Essential Nutrition

Thursday, April 5th, 2007

w that essential vitamins and minerals are
needed in order to promote good health. Let’s explain a little
about both.

There are two types of vitamins: fat-soluble and water soluble
vitamins. The fat soluble vitamins are found in fatty foods
such as animal fats, vegetable oils, dairy foods, liver and
oily fish, while the water soluble vitamins are found in fruit,
vegetables, and grains. The difference between the two is that a
fat soluble can be dissipated by heat or exposure to air. They
can, as you know, lose most of their nutrients when cooked. Fat
soluble vitamins consist of: A, D, E, and K. Water soluble
vitamins include: B6, B12, C, biotin, folic acid, niacin,
riboflavin, thiamin and antithetic acid.

Essential minerals, on the other hand, help the body perform
many important bodily functions. Calcium and magnesium both
help build strong bones and teeth. Iron is needed to produce
red blood cells that carry oxygen throughout the body. Other
minerals are needed to assist with the production of hormones,
proteins and amino acids. The hair, fingernails, nerves, skin,
muscles and all the major organs count on these essential
minerals to help them do their jobs.

Unlike vitamins, in which many are water soluble, are easily
and regularly eliminated from the body via the urine or sweat.
Minerals are generally stored in the body until use. Those
individuals who regularly consume a diet that is full of
fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, lean meats, good fats, and
low-fat dairy products usually get the recommended daily
allowances of most vitamins and minerals and don’t need
supplements because they have a good storehouse. However,
eating fast food, no food, restaurant food, and high-fat snack
food is the norm rather than the exception for most
individuals. These foods are mostly devoid of their vitamins
and minerals. Vegetarians who eat mainly plant-based diets may
also need to rely on supplements for their needs. By
restricting meat and sometimes dairy from their diets, their
bodies may be severely lacking in essential nutrition.

In these cases, it may make sense to take a mineral supplement.
Before doing so, take time to speak with your physician. Talk
about your typical diet, any known medical conditions and any
prescriptions you’re currently taking. After that, you’ll both
be able to make a more informed decision about nutritional
supplements.

Select your mineral and vitamin supplements with care. Go with
a name brand you trust or that you’re familiar with. Price
shouldn’t be the main consideration. It’s okay to purchase
online, but research your source first. Look for a supplement
that contains vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Be sure to
take the mineral only as required. Taking more than indicated
will not double or triple your benefits. In fact, the opposite
may happen. Excessive amounts of some minerals can have toxic
effects. Most importantly, do not rely on vitamin or mineral
supplements to provide your body with the nutrients it needs.
Make time to get nutritional foods into your diet.

Snack on fruits rather than chips. Consume red meat and dairy
in moderation. Add a vegetable to each meal. Something as
simple as a side salad will make a huge difference. Remember
that vitamin and mineral supplements are simply that;
supplements.

Look at the palm of your hand. Your portions of lunch and

they’re cooked.

Starting The Path To A Spiritual Journey

Thursday, April 5th, 2007

is easy to miss because it is subtle. It is a
path to your higher consciousness with fuller awareness. Upon
entering the spiritual path, you will begin to change your
perceptions and see new interpretations of reality. You will
learn to heal yourself from the conditioning of childhood,
societal mores and traditional thinking. You move from being
unaware to becoming an empowered, conscious, loving, holistic,
and fully functioning person. You will start to understand the
mysteries of life.

As your awareness expands, you will realize there is only one
of you. Who you are expands to include all the parts of your
life. Knowing and feeling connected to this full-self unfolds
in stages, as there are degrees of truth along the way to full
truth. It is a continual process of exploring yourself and
others, participating in relationships and groups, and learning
from experiences of your inner-self.

How do you start your spiritual journey?
Often it begins with a personal crisis that starts an inner
desire to look beneath the surface of what is happening to find
richer meaning and purpose.

These questions could include such things as.
Who am I outside of my roles and conditioning?
Why am I here?
What would give my life more meaning and purpose?
Why do these things happen to me?
How can I help myself?
Why do I worry about what my family and friends think?
How can I heal my dysfunctional thoughts, feelings and
behaviors?
How can I change my life so that I like my life?”

These questions and many others need answering; this will then
cause you to move into a deeper quest for life. Life is always
answering your inner questions by bringing you answers and new
experiences. These experiences may come to you through books or
religious teachings, or by listening and learning as you grow.
However, you have to be ready to see, feel and hear the
insights.

Sometimes it is not even a conscious thought that begins the
journey. It might be that you are having problems or you have a
habit that needs changing, or a relationship that is not
working. At what point would you want to enter a therapy group,
a counseling group, or a family therapy group to help improve
your situation. Many of these types of groups can open the
doors to a deeper search.

You may respond because you have had too much pain and
suffering after a catastrophic event like an illness, divorce,
loss of a job or a death of a family member. These experiences
force you often to look for answers. This is because you become
confused, hurt or angry. When you are in this frame of mind, you
can open yourself to new ideas.

Another way you can move on to a spiritual path is if you have
a partner who is willing to join you on your journey,
especially if they are constantly changing and growing, helping
to introduce new ideas and catalyzing the relationship. When you
stay in a relationship, you can evolve together.

When you decide to make you journey, some mystical experiences
can bring you change that will last forever. This is an
expansion of consciousness, greater than everyday life. This is
where you can lift the veil of non-understanding. Once you have
made the changes you will make an instant change in your life.
You will release all your fears and start to understand that
love is the underlying principal of the universe. You can
change you life forever.

The circle and the spiral of life.
Let us now look at two different people. One is living a normal
life and one is starting their spiritual journey. For clarity
let us call her Susan and let us say that Susan lives her life
in a line that goes from point A to point B, eventually this
makes a circle from birth to death. Susan is born into a family
that would expect her to follow the family’s example. This
includes family values and beliefs that have been handed down
from one generation to the next. Therefore, Susan stays within
the comfort of her conditioning.

If Susan decides to move out from the family footsteps, it
would probably be in reaction to extreme situations. Susan
jumps to another point and has the tendency to over-correct and
therefore, act out the opposite side of the coin. Susan may look
like she is thinking for herself and acting differently;
however, she is still dealing with the same coin. Susan will
still condition and will still stay within the boundaries of
the family circle.

Time will tell if Susan returns to the traditions or truly
moves into higher consciousness. I would like to point out at
this point that many who find their spiritual path do go back
to traditional ways; they just experience it with a newer and
deeper understanding.

So now, let us look at person number two, we will call this
person Peter. Peter looks at the boundaries in the circle and
is not satisfied, wanting more from his life than following the
line from point A to point B. This calls forth a deeper process
in a number of ways (some that we mentioned earlier) so, Peter
moves out of the circle. The circle now becomes a new
configuration, a spiral. The circle represents a closed system,
repeating what has been modeled and taught. It is very difficult
for new information to get into this system. When Peter enters
the spiral, he makes a shift upwards and moves into a new
dimension, an open system, which is full of information not
known within the circle.

Another way to explain this is to use a mountain. Susan lives
at the bottom of the mountain and everything is familiar. Is
this where you are? If you are, then you may have learned for
example, that you are an extension of your parents or family.
You need to conform to the roles and rules of these groups. You
may respond to them telling you what to do. However, you should
remember your body is of physical beauty, strength and youth,
and this is what counts in your life.

Alternatively, you may believe that your possessions make you
who you are. Others around you may think that it is great that
you have a high IQ and you did well at school. You have plenty
of money and you seem to have it all. That is all very well
except that true happiness and having a connection to your
inner self, are missing.

If this makes you think about what your role is, and what is
missing in your life, that is a good thing. This is the point
that you may actually move away from the bottom of the mountain
onto the spiral where you will find your true self. Are you
ready to walk up the mountain and find your hidden path to your
higher realizations? It may be uncomfortable at first and your
rational mind might try to talk you into going back down the
mountain for safety and familiarity. As you climb, you will
start to find others who want to share ideas with you and who
can answer a few of your questions. You may find the life you
really want.

You now have some ideas to ponder over. What journey do you
want to take?

We have looked at the difference between Susan who is not
willing to walk away from the circle to start her journey;
therefore, she will stay this way forever. We have also looked
at Peter, who wants to change his circle; therefore, he will
have a happier and fuller life.

Many experiences and thinking patterns can initiate your
spiritual journey. The decision is up to you.
Do you want a higher awareness or do you want to live a life
where you are blind to what you can really become?

Take Control Of Your Body To Reduce Stress

Thursday, April 5th, 2007

80% of to day’s diseases are the direct result of
stress. Stress can cause anything from insomnia and ringing in
the ear as a result of tense neck muscles while you sleep, to
cardiovascular problems.

Stress is a part of our daily lives, a fact-of-life that has
never been faced on such a wide scale as it is faced now.
However, the body is an amazing machine that can control itself
and even heal itself. You can improve the quality of your life
and your health by following a few basic

Breathing Exercises

Any athlete, dancer, or martial arts expert can accomplish
extraordinary feats. Everything they can do filters down to
breathing and diet. Without proper breathing, their muscles
will lack oxygen and tear.

Breathing is the ultimate stress buster, when done right. Fear
causes people to breathe erratically. People hold their breath
and then repair oxygen deprivation with quick, shallow gasps for
air.

Research proves that heart rate shallow breathing increases
feelings of anxiety, something you don’t need when facing
danger, a job interview, or a date.

All it takes to lower your heart rate and create a state of
calm is to practice slow, rhythmic belly breathing. Blow out
all the breath in your lungs in a big sigh. Then put your
finger on the point 2 inches below your navel.

Inhale, as if you are filling up a bottle with liquid, letting
the air fill the bottom and then slowly move up to the lungs.
When your bottle is full, breathe out slowly starting at the
navel and moving up. When done right, your belly will flatten.
Ten breaths will relax your body.

This takes practice. You are not only relaxing your body, and
learning how to relax, but you are training your body to take
control and force itself to relax whenever you start to breath.

This way, as soon as your boss says `I need to talk to you,
come to my office’ you can restore your calm within ten
breaths.

Loosen Muscles

Many people have experienced one time in their lives where they
were so tense that their muscles tightened uncontrollably. Most
of those people can remember one time in their life when they
woke up with their heads completely off the pillow, suspended
in air, held there by tense muscles.

Many people hunch their shoulders, frown, tighten the muscles
in the back of their necks, and tighten their jaw. Most do not
know they are reacting this way until they hear a ringing in
their ears, feel pain, develop a headache, or even have muscle
spasms.

Worse than the pain, tension increases our feelings of stress
and negative thinking. This creates a vicious cycle that can
eventually lead to depression.

If this is a chronic problem in your life then you need to
practice tightening and releasing muscles until you regain
control over your own body. The problem is that it is hard to
get started. It hurts to release the knots. If you touch parts
on the back of your head or back and feel a sharp pain, then you
should have Shiatsu treatments. Better =96 you should learn to
treat yourself.

Start learning to control your muscles with three to five
shoulder shrugs, Inhale while you tense your shoulders, using
the above breathing method. Lift your shoulders toward your
ears and exhale as they relax and move down.

Then lower your chin slowly to your chest for five breaths,
letting your head relax and droop a little bit more with each
exhalation.

If these cause pain, you need a Shiatsu treatment.

Exercise

Exercise relieves stress. It gives you a safe way to vent
unhealthy emotions and teaches you to control your body. It
improves your health and wellbeing, improves your digestive and
cardiovascular system, and last, improves your self-esteem. All
of these things decrease stress.

Be fair. Give yourself at least four months before you give
up. These three things have the power to change your life
forever.

The Importance Of Nutrition For Your Overall Physical And Mental Health

Wednesday, April 4th, 2007

nutrition as one of the key factors in health.

Scientific evidence is very clear about this: we can definitely
manage our own health through the things we daily eat.

Did you know that scientists are actually looking into ways of
protecting astronauts from radiation by means of dietary
supplements? Radiation hazards in outer space present an
enormous danger for the safety of astronauts, it causes the
formation of free radicals. Through a special nutrition however
astronauts are able to counter the effects of these free
radicals.

The same principle applies to us `normal’ humans. Free radicals
are forming all over our body due to all kinds of environmental
attacks. It is a good thing that nowadays more and more people
take notice and change the way they live in order to embrace
the benefits of a healthy nutrition and exercise.

If a healthy body and mind is what you want, understanding
nutrition is of the utmost importance. In its infinite wisdom
nature has provided us with everything one needs to promote
growth, immune system, mental alertness, physical strength and
so on. Without a basic understanding about nutrition it will be
very difficult, if not impossible to establish a diet which
includes the necessary elements the body needs.

What exactly does understanding nutrition involve?

Quite simply put: everything you ingest has an influence on
your body. So you have to make sure that what you eat contains
those elements your body needs. What your body needs are
carbohydrates, fat, protein and last but certainly not least
water. The amount in which each of these elements is consumed
influences greatly the way you feel, react and age

1. Carbohydrates =96 this is the number one energy source of the
body. Our liver and the muscles of our body need a sufficient
intake of carbohydrates in order to maintain good health. You
can find two major types of carbohydrates ( or carbs as some
people prefer to call them):

-simple carbohydrates, which are predominantly of a sweet
nature (eg. fructose, sucrose, glucose, etc) and

-complex carbohydrates, which are based on starch (and can be
found in corn, brown rice, wheat, etc).

2. Fat =96 must be taken in the required amount in order for it
to moderate the metabolism and protect vital organs. Too much
fat in your daily nutrition has the opposite effect however.
The two major fats are

-cholesterol : you can get cholesterol from seafood, eggs,
dairy products and meat.

- Triglycerides: saturated, poly-saturated and mono-saturated
fats, they have an influence on your weight and heart function.

3. Protein =96 Witout protein the body cannot grow or repair
itself. The non-essential amino-acids are manufactured by the
body itself ( hence the term non-essential, the body can
provide its own ) while the essential amino-acids would have to
be introduced into the body by consuming the right foods.

4. Water =96 the body needs a lot of water: at least eight
glasses every day. This amount helps the body to expel toxins,
fight dehydration, prevent heat stroke, moderate body
temperature, digestion and so many other functions. We all know
humans can stay without food up to three weeks; however, they
will perish without water in as little as 48 hours.

The right sort of wall balanced nutrition contributes directly
to the health of individuals and communities. Clinical research
as well as evidence collected through laboratory tests and field
work support the importance of concept to the practice of
clinical medicine, dentistry, and public health.

Green Tea For Weight Loss And Lower Cholesterol

Wednesday, April 4th, 2007

Green Tea For Weight Loss And Lower Cholesterol
Copyright (c) 2007 Marcus Stout
Golden Moon Tea
http://www.GoldenMoonTea.com

High cholesterol is one of the leading precursors to heart
disease. And, research has shown that our diet and lifestyle,
combined with our genetics determines whether we have healthy or
unhealthy cholesterol levels. To keep your cholesterol levels in
check and prevent heart disease, there are several measures you
can take.

The first is diet. Cholesterol in food comes from animal
products. Meat, eggs and dairy products are all culprits. Reduce
the amount of red meat you consume, replacing it with fish or
chicken. Use low fat dairy products and reduce the number of egg
yolks you eat, or use egg substitutes. Increase the amount of
fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet and eat whole grains
rather than refined products like white flour.

The second is exercise. Be certain to get at least 30 minutes of
exercise most days of the week. This will help you shed pounds if
you need to, and will also help lower your serum cholesterol.
Walking is a very good way to help get your daily dose of
exercise.

In addition to making lifestyle and diet changes, many people
take supplements to help control their weight and cholesterol
levels. There are many supplements available, but one of the best
is something you likely have in your cupboard right now. It’s
tea – particularly green tea.

Asian cultures have consumed green tea in large quantities for
centuries. And, throughout history they have had fewer problems
with obesity and lower incidences of heart disease and many forms
of cancer. Scientists are beginning to find a link between this
high green tea consumption and better health. Much research has
been performed on the ability of green tea to slow down the aging
process and prevent illness.

The magic potion in tea seems to be its anti-oxidants.
Anti-oxidants, which are also found in fruits and vegetables,
wine, cocoa and coffee, fight our bodies’ free radicals. Free
radicals are created as a by product of our digestive process.
Free radicals, left unchecked, damage our cells and DNA, leading
to aging and disease.

But, anti-oxidants combat anti-oxidants before they can hurt our
bodies. This is why it’s so important to have anti-oxidants as
part of your every day diet. All tea contains anti-oxidants, but
green tea retains more of its anti-oxidants in their original,
natural state because it goes through less processing than other
types of tea.

In particular, green tea’s anti-oxidants have been shown to be
effective at reducing cholesterol levels and helping with weight
loss. Tea prevents the oxidation of LDL cholesterol into plaque,
the hard substance that clogs our arteries, making us more
susceptible to heart attacks and strokes.

Studies have suggested that even if your LDL cholesterol level is
high, drinking tea may prevent it from causing a problem. Tea is
also thought to have an anti-inflammatory effect, which helps the
heart in its overall function.

In addition, green tea seems to have the ability to help patients
lose weight. For overweight patients, losing weight usually means
an automatic reduction in cholesterol levels. So, tea has a two
fold effect for overweight patients with high cholesterol!

In terms of weight loss, it appears that the combination of the
anti-oxidants in green tea and the caffeine speeds up the
metabolism and promotes the oxidation of fat. Both of these
attributes contribute to weight loss.

In recent years, there have been several studies on green tea’s
ability to speed weight loss. One of the most interesting studies
was conducted by Osaka University in Japan.

This study evaluated 98 men and 97 women, between the ages of 22
and 65. All subjects were healthy, though some were moderately
overweight. The participants were divided into 3 groups. The
first group received a placebo drink, the second group a green
tea drink with a low dose of tea catechins (anti-oxidants) and
the third group a green tea drink with a high dose of tea
catechins.

The study was conducted over a 12 week period, during which time
participants consumed their study beverage three times a day (at
meals). At the end of the twelve week period, participants who
received the green tea beverages had lost weight and reduced
their body fat and BMI, unlike the group who consumed the placebo
drink. The group with the higher dosage of tea catechins reported
more success than the low dose group.

This study concludes the way countless others have in recent
years: with the suggestion, at least, that drinking green tea can
help you lose weight. And, losing weight can help you lower your
cholesterol. In addition, other studies have shown that green tea
may help lower cholesterol levels even in subjects who did not
lose weight.

So, drinking green tea may provide double the results for those
patients seeking to lose weight and lower cholesterol levels.
Adding green tea to your diet, along with making dietary changes
and getting the recommended amount of exercise each week may be
all you need to get your cholesterol and your weight under
control.

Submitter’s Note: This information that I’m sharing is sourced from an
excellent and insightful book titled ‘TOMORROW’S GOD’ by Neale Donald
Walsch (published by Hodder and Stoughton, a division of Hodder Headline).

I have taken what I feel to be the main points, directly as they appeared
in Chapter Twelve of Walsch’s thought-provoking great new book (together
with a few additional points of my own – in brackets). Hope this piece
(including a few thoughts of my own) may be of interest to you too.
*
THE JESUS FACTOR

(from ‘TOMORROW’S GOD’ by Neale Donald Walsch)

“Slowly and gradually, out of a rich experience of the world, one builds
a faith.”

God and I are one. Jesus taught that we and God are One, but that no one
wanted to believe it; because it did not serve the human agenda. Jesus
was and is a saviour to all humankind. He knew Who He Really Was. So he
declared it for all to hear.

He declared something else. He said that what he did on the earth, we
could also do. By elevating and expanding His consciousness, together
with a high level of faith is the key to experiencing these gifts. That
was the central message that Jesus taught.

“According to your faith, be it unto you.”
“Oh woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt.” And
the woman’s daughter was made whole from that very hour!
“If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall
say unto this mountain, ‘Remove hence to yonder place, and it shall
remove, and nothing shall be impossible to you.”
- Jesus’s words

Still if we cannot believe in ourselves and in our own divine heritage
(and because so many people cannot), Jesus in an act of enormous love and
compassion, invites us to believe in Him. (That was why He invited us,
gently, to go to God, the Creator of the Universe THROUGH Him.)

“Verily, verily I say unto you, He that believeth in me, the works that
I do, shall he also do; and greater works than these he shall do, because
I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I
do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask anything
in my name, I WILL do it.”

This was an extrordinary promise. So great and so complex was Jesus’s
understanding of who He was and of who we are (“I and my Father are
one”). He knew deeply that there was no limit to what we could do, if we
believed in ourselves, or in Him.

So great was His love for all humankind, and so full was his compassion
for their suffering, that he called upon Himself to rise to the highest
level, to move to the grandest expression of his being, in order to
present a living example to all human beings everywhere.

And then He prayed that we would not only see the evidence of His Oneness
with the Father, but our own Oneness with God as well.

It was a marvellous inspiration for him to invite those who could not
imagine themselves to be a part of God to imagine themselves to be a part
of Him. He knew that it would be easier for us to see ourselves as
“Brothers in Christ” than as One with God!
“I and my Father are one (John 10:30).
” And the glory which thou gavest me, I have given them; that they may be
one, even as we are one.” (John 17:22)

He stated repeatedly the truth of our oneness with God.
And if Jesus Christ was One with God, then so too are we. We simply do
not know it, refuse to believe it and cannot imagine it!

In essence, Jesus is saying: ‘I am the Life and the Way. Live your life
as I live mine, go the way I’ve gone, ie. follow me – and you will
experience God’. That is the truth I came to reveal to you. I came not to
humble you, but to exalt you; not to put you down, but to raise you up.

His message was that he was greater than none, nor is any one greater
than any other, for You are all One.

Jesus, like other masters and messengers (like Buddha, Abraham, Krishna,
Moses and Mohammed) LOVE you today as they did in their times on planet
earth. Jesus INVITES you today, as those other masters did then to accept
and embrace the wonder and glory of Who You Are.

(Jesus Christ chose to live with the “highest thoughts” and consequently
lived at the highest level of humanity as “son of man”.) Jesus said what
He said and did what He did – that you may know who He was… and thus
know also Who YOU Are.
Often what is hard for us to believe about ourselves, we can believe
about another – and Jesus knew this! That was His mission: precisely what
He knew and why He chose do do what He did …in life and in death! Thus,
it is not Jesus’s death that can save us, but his LIFE!

We are the hope of humanity

Submitter’s note:

Craig is studying the teachings of different religions, as he researches
and writes his latest novel ‘A New Dawn’, set in the Middle East: To
attempt to find ‘common ground’/principles between different religions
and cultures. And as he learns from his research, is sharing these notes
in an attempt to ‘enlighten’ (himself and perhaps others) about different
religious faiths. As I “try to grow” spiritually, I am sharing some of
the author’s writings on this most significant man, for you to ponder on
(if you so choose) – the person who Christians believe to be ‘God in
human form’), whose life and death 2000 years ago largely shaped human
history and our beliefs about life (and what is indeed possible to
achieve!).
I am motivated to share these ‘eternal truths’ about Jesus by Neale
Donald Walsch, so that all our lives may greatly benefit in many ways.

P.S: These powerful, deep and moving words have great significance to me
in my journey…and this is my reason for sharing…

“The moment of your greatest darkness may yet become your grandest gift.
As you are gifted, so too will you gift others, giving to them the
highest treasure: to BE THEMSELVES.

What we learn in the darkness, we are to share in the light.
Let this be your task, let this be your greatest joy: to give back to
themselves…even in their darkest hour.”

A Spa Inspired Bathroom

With the hectic lives we all lead, many of us are looking to add some
relaxation time to our schedules. We spend money on resorts and
exclusive spas, but what about adding a little more relaxation into
your home?

The bathroom has taken on a whole new role. It has gone from a
functional sanitary place to a spa-like sanctuary. It is now the room
of choice in which to relax, rejuvenate and recharge from our
frenetic daily lives.

Today, bathrooms can rival those at the most fashionable spas. The
new trend is to establish a wellness room in the master bathroom
where innovative spa-like tools such as air jet baths and therapeutic
shower units deliver short and long-term health benefits. One can now
spend hours on end soaking in the luxury of an air jet bath filled
with essential oils, mud or salts. Dreamers can while away hours in a
rose-petal-scented bath, tired athletes may soak stressed muscles in
a therapeutic bath, bathers can add rosemary and fresh mint if they
want to renew themselves; seaweed and sesame oil if they want to
detoxify, energise and moisturise; or coconut oil and imitation rum
extract to mend a “really bad mood.

Fixtures remain a cost-effective way to rejuvenate or transform a
bathroom. Whether it’s sensor-activated faucets, toilets with self-
cleaning bidets or custom showers, technology is making the bathroom
more functional, convenient and pleasurable.

One of the fastest growing trends in bathrooms is custom showering.
Rainfall showerheads that were once only found in fine spas are now a
popular way to transform your shower experience. For the ultimate
showering experience choose from a range of shower options including
bubbling footbaths with eight adjustable body and hydro massage jets
or the cascading waterfall shower digitally controlled by a
thermostatic valve and 10 massaging body jets for the ultimate at
home showering experience. For an invigorating shower sprinkle a few
drops of lemon oil onto the base of the shower before stepping in.
Technology concepts like chromotherapy (light) and hydrosonic (Sound)
are increasingly being incorporated into the actual bath or shower
with a selection of soft background music or recordings of nature
used to further enhance the home spa experience.

When decorating a spa bathroom natural materials work well. A bamboo
floor mat combines well with other warm, textured accessories like
rattan chairs and baskets to hold rolled hand towels, wash cloths and
bath items. Cane or wicker shelving units are ideal for storing bulky
towels ready for use. White towels give a crisp, clean feel while
yellow infuses a room with sunshine and warmth. Luxurious towels in
hues of violet, blue, or green enrich and add depth. Monograms are
not just for towels and robes found in expensive resorts and hotels.

Using Herbs and Herbal Remedies as Medicine

Using Herbs and Herbal Remedies as Medicine

Using herbs as a form of medicine has been done for thousands of
years. And many people still use herbs, herbal remedies, teas,
poultices, and supplements today to help keep their body healthy, and
to help take care of their families. Many people have started learning
however, that there are plenty of herbs which will actually do more
than keep you healthy though. Herbs can be used as a medicine
alternative to high priced, prescription drugs which often have risky
side effects.

Using herbs for medicine takes a bit of study, research and learning,
but it’s well worth it over time. Herbs are much more gentle on your
body, and they can be livesaving for anyone who doesn’t have health
insurance because they’re quite inexpensive to buy.

One of the first things you need to learn about using herbs for
medicine though, is that there can be side effects, and there can be
interactions with regular prescription drugs too. Just because herbs
are natural does not mean they’re not powerful. There are herbs which
can raise your blood pressure for instance, herbs which will make a
pregnant woman have a miscarriage, and herbs which are natural sources
of insulin to lower your blood sugar too. So knowing which herbs do
what is extremely important.

One of the problems with trends and fads these days, is that one herb
will be touted as being a miracle drug for one specific health
condition. What’s left unsaid though, is all the other things these
herbs will do too. Most herbs can be used for a wide variety of things
in your body. Unlike prescription medications which are made to treat
just one thing, many herbs can be used to treat a wide variety of things.

Garlic for instance, is an herb which has gotten popular for using to
manage blood pressure problems. This herb will also regulate blood
sugar levels though. Plus it will help kill any virus or infection in
your body, and it can be used outside your body to kill yeast
infections, athlete’s foot, and oral thrush among other things.

Goldenseal is another herb which has gained mainstream popularity in
the last ten years or so, because it’s an excellent natural
antibiotic. Most people don’t know however, that this herb is also a
natural source of insulin, and larger doses of Goldenseal can be
dangerous if taken by hypoglycemics or insulin dependent diabetics.

These are just two small examples of course, and there are many more.
Simply by being aware of all the various things an herb can do for you
though, and choosing your herbs wisely, herbs and natural remedies can
be a goldmine of health, wellness, and medicine for you and your loved
ones.
