Sources Of Stress For Families Of Children With Autism

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

#=
#################
Parents are already familiar with the stress that comes with
preparing meals, bathing, homework, shopping and so on. In
addition to these stressors are those parents meet with
parent-child conflicts, time schedules to meet and a child’s
well-being in general. A family who has a child on the autism
spectrum experiences added unique stressors.

Current research suggests that parents of children with autism
experience greater stress than parents of children with
intellectual disabilities and Down Syndrome. A child with
autism may not be able to express basic wants and needs in the
same manner as individuals without the disorder. Parents are
often guessing why the child is crying. Is it because he/she is
hungry, thirsty, hurting or sick? Not being about to determine
the child’s needs can leave parents feeling frustrated and
filled with sorrow. The child with autism unable to communicate
with its parents effectively may be left frustrated and unhappy.
This frustration can lead to aggression and self-injury
behaviors that can make the child a danger to himself and to
other family members.

A lack of appropriate leisure, play and social skills often
require constant structure of family time, which can become
quite difficult to accomplish in the home environment. Families
may not be able to attend events together at scheduled times.
Mom might have to stay home with the child who has autism,
while dad take another sibling to their baseball game or school
band concert. This in turn can create problems in the marital
relationship in addition to whatever other problems already
exist. There is often a lack of qualified people who can care
for the autistic child while mom and dad find time to spend
alone.

Additional problems may be struggles with getting the child
with autism to sleep through the night or eat a wide variety of
foods for proper health and nutrition.

Other sources of stress for parents of children with autism may
include:

=95 Reactions from society: Parents may feel self-conscious about
taking a child with autism out into the community. The may fear
others will stare or make rude comments about their child.
These problems may leave parents of children with autism
experiencing a sense of isolation from friends, relatives and
community

=95 Concerns about future care: Parents know they provide their
children with autism the best care possible and they fear that
no one else will take care of their child like they do.

=95 Finances: Evaluations, home programs and therapies can drain
a family’s resources. One parent may have to give up his or job
to take care of the child leaving the family with even less
money to meet financial obligations.

=95 Feelings of Grief: Many parents of children with autism
grieve the loss of the “typical” child they expected to have.
They also grieve the loss of a lifestyle they expected or
planned for themselves and their family. This can be an
additional source of stress on the family, which is ongoing.

Sibling’s sources of stress may include:

=95 Embarrassment around their peers and jealousy about the extra
time parents have to spend with their brother or sister

=95 Frustration about not being about to communicate effectively
with a brother or sister who has autism

=95 May be the target of aggressive behaviors of the child with
autism

=95 Worries over their parents stress and grief about the child
with autism

=95 Concern about their role as a future caregiver for the
sibling or siblings with autism

Grandparents also grieve over the loss of the typical
grandchild expected and may be concerned about the stress and
difficulties their children are experiencing. Grandparents
often want to help but lack the skills to deal with children
who have autism.

How can families cope with the stress of living with a child or
children who have autism?

Some suggestions for helping families may include:

=95 Remember that you must take action before progress toward
solutions can be made

=95 Take time for yourself and other family members to avoid
burnout

=95 Keep in mind that just a few minutes per day can make a big
difference in taking time for yourself

=95 Do things for yourself that you know normally makes you feel
better

=95 Parents who have children with autism have a greater need to
reward themselves

=95 Family members need to reward one another

=95 Spouses need to acknowledge the hard work each is performing

=95 Thank siblings for watching or helping their brothers and
sisters who have autism

=95 Spouses need to find time for alone. This may include
watching T.V. together when the children are asleep or going
out to dinner

=95 Families may also want to engage in activities occasionally
without the individual with autism. Everyone deserves some time
together that is not threatened by the challenges of autism.

=95 Network with other families affected by autism

=95 Attend support groups for parents, siblings and grandparents
through educational programs, parent resource centers, and
local chapter of the Autism Society of America.

=95 Prayer

=95 Exercise/yoga

=95 Keeping a journal

=95 Keeping a daily schedule of tasks to accomplish

If you witness a family member or a friend showing signs of
stress even if it means you will not be appreciated for your
efforts, getting as much assistance for a child with autism and
their families can only make things better over the long term.

Phishing Stealing Of Identity Online

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

==================
Phishing is the stealing of identity information from users
online and has become one of the biggest dangers of unknowingly
giving away your personal information.

According to the Anti-Phishing Working Group (APWG), the number
of Phishing incidents is increasing at a rate of 56 percent
every month.

Phishing can be done on an unsuspecting victim who receives an
email that comes from a respectable business, such as a bank or
other types of financial institutions and the email links the
victim to a web site where he or she is asked to provide
account information. What is scary the site in which you have
been directed to looks legitimate and about 10 percent of
people who receive these types of emails fall prey to these
crooks.

Thousands of computers are compromised each day without the
user ever knowing they have unwillingly given up their private
and personal information.

Phishing is automated identity theft. Gartner Group estimated
in that 1.78 million Americans had already given their
information to phishers with a cost to U.S. consumers and
industry is 2.4 billion dollars.

It is a good bet that everyone who has an email account has
received some level of Phishing. Anytime you have received an
email from what appears to be a legitimate business that has a
well known presence on the internet has been used to steal your
personal information. The type of information being requested
is passwords, usernames, account numbers, credit cards, social
security numbers and any other data that will allow the
criminals to take your identity and money.

Identity theft is the fasting growing crime in the United
States. Can you imagine having criminals take out a second
mortgage on your home or better yet purchase a home using your
credit information, fraudulent charges on your credit card.

If you receive an email as described above and provided the
information most likely you are a victim of Identity theft.

Some of the businesses being impersonated are banks, auctions
sites, Internet retails, charities, financial institutes and
any other internet transaction base site. Keep in mind that
most of the impersonating is of the Larger companies that are
well known, but it is just a matter of time that all of us will
need to be on high alert.

Even if you don’t answer the email you can become a victim with
the use of spy ware or Trojans. In this case you don’t have to
supply any information. The victim’s computer is compromised
and sends the information to the phishers on its own. This is
known a keystroke logger that watches for usernames, passwords
and other financial or personal information.

Who is doing the Phishing?

Serious crackers are sophisticated and don’t care who they work
for, they can develop their own spy ware, run scripts through
email or websites, compromise networks that are behind a
firewall and generally cause disaster.

Organized Crime and criminal syndicates are responsible for the
most elaborate and thorough phishing scams. This group hires
the serious crackers to develop websites to recruit mules for
money laundering; they can create fake credit and Cash cards
with your personal information and use them anywhere they want.
It is said that this is the most dangerous group and create
most of the identity theft.

Terrorists are currently profiting from your identity, in 2002
the FBI stated the following in congressional testimony:

The impact of Identity theft is greater that just the loss of
money or property. Terrorists and terrorist groups require
funding to perpetrate their terrorist agendas. The methods use
to finance terrorism range from the highly sophisticated to
most basic. There is virtually no financing method that has
not at some level been exploited by the groups. Identity theft
is a key catalyst for fueling many of these methods.

Just be careful and don’t respond to emails. Call the financial
institutes that you do business with to verify the email and
also notify them of incident.

Tea: How is Green Tea Different from Other Teas?

Golden Moon Tea

For years, green tea was consumed almost exclusively in Asia. For
centuries, green tea has been used by Chinese herbalists to treat
many health maladies from menstrual difficulties to headaches. In
China and Japan, most people drink green tea all day long.
However, here in the Western world it has gained popularity only
in the last few years. There are many ways to enjoy green tea,
and many things to learn about it. There are several differences
between green tea and other types of tea.

Processing - Green tea comes from the same plant as black tea,
but it is processed differently. Green tea, however, is not
fermented like black tea. Green tea leaves are laid out to wither
for about 8 to 24 hours after plucking to allow most of the water
to evaporate. Next, to prevent the oxidation (fermentation)
process, the leaves are steamed or pan fried. Finally the leaves
are rolled and then dried again, unlike black tea leaves, which
are cut.

Flavor - Because green tea is in a very natural state, it tastes
more plant like than black tea. Most people describe green tea as
having a somewhat “grassy” taste. It is green and somewhat pale
in color, and can become bitter if over brewed. Green tea can
have subtleties and differences in aroma and flavor based on the
variety of the tea plant and the region in which the tea is
grown.

In addition, there are many flavored green teas. Green teas are
blended with herbs or fruit to create a wide variety of flavors.
Many people who don’t enjoy the taste of plain green tea love
the combination of green tea with other flavors.

Serving method - Green tea needs cooler water than any other tea
for proper brewing. Water for green tea should be heated to about
160=83F. It can be enjoyed with sweetener, milk or lemon if you
prefer. Green tea can also be enjoyed cold. Keeping a pitcher of
iced green tea in your refrigerator lets you enjoy its health
benefits all day long.

Caffeine Content - Green tea contains only about half the amount
of caffeine as black tea. Black tea contains about 40 mg of
caffeine per serving, while green tea contains just 20. In
addition, caffeine in tea has been shown to be less likely to
cause jitters than other caffeinated beverages.

Health Benefits - Green tea has received a lot of attention in
recent years because it has been shown in research to be very
effective at preventing many diseases and even in treating some.
The natural anti-oxidants in green tea make it one of the most
powerful health protectors you can consume as part of your diet.
Green tea may be effective in:

* Reducing your risk of some forms of cancer - Many different
studies have supported the finding that green tea can prevent and
possibly even help treat some forms of cancer. The first interest
in green tea’s health benefits resulted from statistics showing
that Asian cultures, where green tea is the most commonly
consumed beverage, have the lowest incidences of cancer in the
world.

Some studies have even shown that green tea compounds can inhibit
the growth of cancer cells, slowing the progress of the disease.
It appears that tea may be most effective at preventing bladder,
colon, rectal, esophageal, bladder, liver, lung, pancreatic
cancer, breast cancer and prostate cancer.

* Lowering Cholesterol - Tea has been shown to be effective in
lowering LDL cholesterol (the bad cholesterol). It appears that
tea’s anti-oxidants work with HDL cholesterol to help transport
bad cholesterol to the liver, where it can be passed from the
body. Tea also appears to inhibit the formation of abnormal blood
clots, which are the leading cause of heart attacks and strokes.

* Ease Rheumatoid Arthritis - Tea’s anti-oxidants may have the
power to help prevent rheumatoid arthritis. In some studies, it
has even been suggested that green tea may be able to ease
symptoms of those already suffering with this disease.

* Help Lose Weight - Tea’s combination of catechins and
caffeine appear to speed up the metabolism and may help with
weight loss. In addition, it appears that using green tea as a
diet supplement causes fewer instances of jitteriness and rapid
heart rate than other diet supplements. It may also help regulate
insulin in the body, which can be beneficial for diabetics. Many
studies have shown that lifelong tea drinkers tend to weigh less
and have less body fat than non tea drinkers.

* Prevent Alzheimer’s disease - Studies suggest that tea
drinkers may also be less likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease.
Though the subject requires far more research, it has also been
suggested that green tea’s potent anti-oxidants may even have
the power to slow down the progress of Alzheimer’s disease in
those already suffering.

Most people in the Western world still drink black tea over green
tea. But, as you can see, there are many health reasons to make
green tea a part of your regular diet. Green tea may be an
important way to protect your health and prevent disease. And,
it’s delicious, too!

Balance Is Firing Stress

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

==================
Have you ever felt real stressed out and pressed down
emotionally, drained, and burned out? Your life is a blur? The
days seem to rush. You rush to work. You rush to run errands on
your lunch break or after work. You put more projects onto your
calendar. What if you could have more time? Time to be with
friends and family. Time to do what you want to do for once.
However lately does it seem impossible to fit in a social life?
A social life seems like a crazy idea right now?

People are working more and more, working harder, and having
less time for a social life. It is a fact. Many people put a
lot on their plates. They think they are superman or
superwoman. Many people are getting burned out and end up sick.
How much is on your plate right now? Having less social life is
actually a danger. Do you suffer from migraines, frequent
headaches, problems with concentration, being over tired, or
isolated from friends and family? Theses are a few common
symptoms of stress. Being aware of your stress levels is a
great indicator that you need more balance in your life
especially in the social area. Our bodies and minds thrive on a
healthy balance between our work and social life.

So how can you get more social life back into your life? Where
do you start? Here are a few ways to put social life back on
your calendar. Mark it with an “S” (social).

1. Get a calendar of some sort. Whatever kind of calendar that
works for you. Start planning social events onto your calendar.
Ask yourself what do you like to do for fun. Ask yourself who do
you like to spend time with. Once you know what and whom you
want to socialize with, start planning events.

2. Some social events you can do are going out to dinner, go
dancing, do drive go-carts, or go to a concert. Join a health
club with a friend. Exercise is a great way to restore your
physical and emotional stress. Grab a friend and go shopping.
These are some things you can do. The list is endless.

It is time to start socializing. Parents push their kids to
socialize with others. They put them in all kinds of
activities. However many adults don’t do it themselves. It is
time for you to live a balance between your career and fun. You
can only maximize today and tomorrow.

Spirituality Information - John Harricharan’s Interview With Terri Marie (Q4)

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

#=
#################
Terri Marie: Well, that was a very interesting and insightful
answer as always, John. And I’m always happy to hear what you
have to say about the questions that — I’m thinking and I’m
hoping other people are thinking. That brings me to another
question. There’s been some talk about and people are looking
are looking for a purpose in life. But some say that there is
no purpose in life. We create our purpose. What do you
believe about that?

John Harricharan: It’s similar to when people ask me “What is
the meaning of life? and I say life doesn’t have any meaning
and they are shocked — absolutely shocked. Because everyone
thinks that life has meaning. No, life has no meaning. We
bring meaning to life. Life has no purpose except to live it
as brilliantly as possible. We bring purpose to life.

It’s like having a bunch of an artist with a bunch of paint.
He has his paint brushes and has little things of paint. And
there is a big canvas in front of him, and he sits back and he
looks at the brush or the brushes. And he looks at his little
containers of paint. And he looks at the canvas and he says,
“What is the meaning of this canvas? What is the meaning of
the paint? They really by themselves have no special meaning.
But as he takes his brush, he puts it into the paint and he
starts painting on the canvas, out comes a beautiful picture.
There could be a painting of the Mona Lisa or any of the great
artists could have produced that.

The meaning is in the thing produced and what we bring to it.
The artist brought an invisible part of himself, which flowed
through the paint, through the canvas. And there is something,
which although it’s a painting would influence hundreds and
thousands of people forever more. So, so it is with a purpose.

We don’t run around looking for a purpose in life, because the
more we do so the more we get it mixed up like the little fish
in the ocean. Can you imagine the bunch of little fishes
around the big mummy and daddy fish saying, “Can we go find
some water, numerous water? We have heard of this great place
where there is so much water. We’d like to go. Mummy and
daddy fish, can you take us little baby fishes along the search
for this great adventure for water?”

It is as almost as ridiculous as that, because our purpose is
all around us. The very fact that we are here, the very fact
that we breathe, we exist, that is purpose. And I think just
to simplify it and put a little laughter into it . The purpose
of life is to live it as brilliantly as beautifully as
possible.

Terri Marie: And you just gave a brilliant answer to the
question, John. Thanks once again. And I loved the little
fishy story. All right. You have got into me some superheroes
in life and become good friends with them, for instance,
Elizabeth Kubler-Ross and Foster Hibbard. What did you learn
from maybe Elizabeth or Foster that you’d like to share with
the listeners?

John Harricharan: Another question, Terri Marie, which has
been asked to me a lot of times. People have said, “Oh, my
goodness. You must have learnt so much from all these great
people in there.” Absolutely right, except it’s not a one-way
street. And I would like to rephrase that and said, “We all
learn from each other.” And some of the things I learned were
very interesting.

I think what are the most important things I learned from the
great people I have met is how human they are, how very much
like you and me and everyone else. They are subject to the
same forces and same laws of the universe as everyone else.
They hurt. They laugh. They cry. They sing. They play.
They are happy. They are sad. But there was something else in
them that I did not find in the ordinary person.

They had decided to serve, to help others, to love
unconditionally, to give up what they think would bring them a
lot of good and do things in the service of others. Foster
Hibbard was certainly such a person. He would serve people.
He would help people. And in doing so he precipitated the
tremendously powerful law — The Law of Giving and Receiving,
because it says, in as much as you give so shall you receive.
You cannot, just as it’s true that you cannot receive without
giving, you cannot give without receiving=85.

And so that made Foster Hibbard a fortune. It put him in touch
with some of the other great people. And do you know he went to
school, his — one of his schooling or schools, some of his
classmates were people or schoolmates were people like Jack
Lemmon, some of the Rockefellers, the first President, Bush,
and others. That’s the type of people he was led to. And he
was a very ordinary person, but yet extraordinary in what he
had done with his spirit.

So it was with Elizabeth Kubler-Ross. Elizabeth was my friend
for many, many years until she passed on a few years ago. She
was a wonderful, wonderful lady who brought so much
understanding in this world to the thought of dying; the way
people treat it, dying people. And she brought dignity to that
and made a total change to the entire hospice situation at the
United States. So much so, that her book, the seminal “On
Death and Dying” has become required reading of almost all good
medical schools on earth, if you will. And so, Elisabeth and I
sort of met many years ago through another friend of mine, Brad
Steiger, who is an author of over a 150 books.

And in a, kind of, a network with these people we find — we
found is that we liked one another, that we loved the same life
of firmers and disliked the same life destroyers that we wanted
to help people, but not by telling, actually by showing and
doing. Because some of the people I have met and know and this
includes people like — you mentioned before Foster Hibbard, who
was an associate of the great Dr. Napoleon Hill, people like Dr.
Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, Deepak Chopra and many others, Dan
Millman.

They all seem to have this desire to look into the future and
bring some joy to the current situation in the life of human
beings. And that’s what I learned from them. They are just
like I am. I am just like they are. And that they don’t teach
and I don’t teach. We all learn. We generally meet people for
one of two reasons and maybe a combination, which is even
better.

One is to teach them something the other is to learn something
from them, or the better of the two, the combination of the
two, which is to learn and teach. Somewhere in there is an
answer to what you ask me.

The art of brewing and drinking green tea has been around for
centuries. In fact, green tea has been used for many different
tea ceremonies in China and Japan. In these countries, there are
rituals that must be followed and tools that must be used in
brewing tea to be served to guests.

The Japanese tea ceremony, for example, is steeped in tradition,
and is still used to celebrate special occasions today. The tea
traditionally used for a Japanese tea ceremony is called Macha, a
powdered green tea. In Japan, emphasis is placed on the ceremony
itself, rather than the taste of the tea. Today’s Japanese tea
ceremonies typically last about 45 minutes, but in years past a
tea ceremony could last for as much as five hours. Tea masters
study for years to master the flower arranging, clothing and tea
making that is used in a ceremony.

During a traditional Japanese tea ceremony, guests enter, examine
the tea utensils, flowers and art in the room. Then they kneel
down and sit. They are served sweets, often soft cakes made of
bean paste, while they watch the tea being made. The tea is made
by a leaves practitioner, who has studied for years to ensure
that the ritual is performed calmly and appropriately.

The utensils used for a Japanese ceremony are also very
important. The utensils are passed down for generations. There
are special iron kettles, bamboo water scoops, tea bowls and
traditional Japanese tea cups.

In China, tea ceremonies are used to celebrate special occasions
as well. However, in China, more attention is paid to the event
being celebrated, along with the aroma and flavor of the tea than
the ritual itself.

The most famous Chinese tea ceremony is the performed when
couples are married. Early on the wedding day, the bride serves
tea to her parents at their home before her groom arrives. After
the wedding ceremony, the newlyweds serve tea together to the
groom’s family.

The bride and groom kneel before the groom’s family members and
serve them tea as a sign of respect. During the course of the
ceremony, the bride and groom receive red envelopes from the
relatives containing money or jewelry as wedding gifts.

Certain symbols are extremely important in a Chinese wedding
ceremony. These include the lotus seeds and dates, which
symbolize children to be born early in the marriage and a sweet
and happy life.

For the rest of us, however, green tea is consumed for enjoyment
and health reasons. In fact, drinking green tea may be one of the
simplest and best habits you can pick up to protect your health.
Green tea’s potent anti-oxidants have been shown to have many
health benefits. Long term green tea drinking has been shown to
prevent many forms of cancer, heart disease and high cholesterol.
In addition, green tea has been shown to be an effective weight
loss supplement and to regulate insulin naturally.

Green tea has even been shown to be an adjunct therapy for cancer
patients undergoing chemotherapy. Studies have shown chemotherapy
to be more effective when patients consumed a green tea regimen
along with their chemotherapy compared to patients who did not
consume green tea.

To make your own green tea, you must first choose a green tea
variety. This may be the most difficult task of all, because
there are so many varieties of green tea available. In fact,
there is a saying that in China alone there are as many varieties
of green tea as there are towns.

Some of the most popular varieties of green tea include the
following:

* Gunpowder Tea - known for its smokiness, Gunpowder tea is a
tightly rolled pearl that unfolds as it steeps to reveal a pale
green brew and beautiful tea leaves.

* Sencha - This is a traditional Japanese green tea that is a
favorite of the Japanese people for serving to guests. It is
grown in the shadow of Mt. Fuji.

If you’d like to try flavored green tea, it is often found
combined with the flavors of vanilla, jasmine and mint.

To brew the perfect cup of green tea, fill your kettle with fresh
cold water and place it on the stove to heat. While the water is
heating, add warm tap water to your teapot and your cups, if you
wish, to warm them.

When the water comes to a boil, remove it from the heat and
remove the tap water from your teapot. Let the water sit for
about 2 minutes to let the water cool down a little. Green tea
should be brewed with water that is about 160=83F, which is cooler
than other teas. Add about 1 teaspoon of tea leaves per cup to
your teapot and pour the hot water over the leaves.

Most green tea should steep about 1-2 minutes before serving. The
best green tea will give you 2-3 infusions.

Whether you choose green tea to use in a traditional ceremony, to
protect your health or just because you love it, you’ve made a
wise choice. There’s certainly a reason that green tea is used
in so many ceremonies and so highly revered in the Asian world.
It’s a natural way to celebrate an occasion that’s healthy and
delicious, too.

Release Your Growth Hormone
Earl Nightingale said that the best things in life are
free. Things, such as houses, cars, and “toys”can be
replaced. Health, love, family, our mind, and air, to name
a few things, are priceless, but come to us free. There is
another aspect of achieving superior health that I am going
to address today that is also free, because it is sitting
right in our bodies. You can pay for it at the health food
store, but it is also sitting in your body, waiting for you
to trigger the release of it. I am talking about growth
hormone.

Now many who are trying to sell you a product, will tell
you that you will have more energy, increased skin
elasticity, an increased in bone mass and density, lowered
cholesterol, diminished joint pain, increased lean muscle
mass, improved memory, lower blood pressure, and have
greater exercise capabilities, and the list goes on, if you
get a regular dose of growth hormone. These proponents
state that there is a link between growth hormone level and
the above mentioned benefits. There may be truth in that,
but I think the real thing to understand here is that your
body already has growth hormone in abundant supply, it just
needs to be released!

I recently listened to a CD by Larry Scott, a heavy weight
lifting champion. He spoke mainly about the ratio of
nutrients our body needs to lose weight, or gain weight,
but he also touched on the topic of growth hormones
produced by our body. The benefits are of utmost concern
to us women: skin that is youthful, besides the above
mentioned list of benefits. The problem is, our bodies
stop releasing this hormone around 20 or 30, and it just
sits in our glands, doing us no good.

He said that there have been studies done on 80 year old
cadavers, that showed they had lots of growth hormone in
their glands, it just hadn’t been released! Our body makes
plenty of this growth hormone, and releases it when we are
young, especially during the teen years. It’s just as we
get older, that we have to do certain things to trigger its
release.

Larry hinted at these things on the CD I listened to, but,
I just had to know the 4 things that triggered this release
of growth hormone, so I called him, and asked. He very
graciously told me.

The four things that release growth hormone are:
1.Sleep. Planning is involved here, but is well worth it.
Get your proper sleep, and get growth
hormones released in your body for free!
2)Fasting. 3 hours before bedtime, and before you exercise,
causes the release of growth hormone.
3)Amino acids Arginine, and L-lysine taken together.
4)Exercising to the point of feeling cramps in the muscle.
This will not only cause you to burn fat in that area, but
will release the desired growth hormone!

The exciting thing about this, is that 3 out of 4 of these
things can be easily done to trigger growth hormone release
without going anywhere, or spending any money! Simple
exercises can be done at home. I recently bought a video
that described exercises that you can do in 60 seconds. It
showed mostly exercises I already knew, such as squats and
lunges, for example, but it revolutionized my thinking in
that I am now doing those exercises in a spare moment here
and there, and I CAN TELL A DIFFERENCE! I feel stronger,
and healthier, and have the feeling of good health (more
energy!) that comes with a release of growth hormone!

I am so enthused by this information, as I am always into
natural remedies, and anything especially easy to obtain
good health. I am reminded of the “butterfly effect”:
which is simply put, a sequence of small changes will
amount to a vast change in the outcome. Implement these
four things into your life, and increase your release of
growth hormone: you have it in you!

Building A Strong Customer Service Team

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

==================
There are more and more demands being made of front line team
members, and sometimes the pressure can be heard by your
customer. As the leader of a customer facing team you must be
aware of what is going on with your team members - how to best
support them, develop their skills and handle some tough
situations. Building a strong customer service team is no easy
feat. Here are some suggestions for building and strengthening
your team:

Hire the right people
Decide up front what skills, strengths and personality you want
on the team. The team creates its own culture based on your
leadership. Be clear in interviews about what expectations you
have for the job, what will create success and how it will be
measured. As you narrow down candidates it’s a good idea to
have them meet a few people on the team. Let the candidates get
a feel for the team they may be working with.

Be a team member as well as a manager and leader
A successful team is only as successful as each individual team
member. By viewing each role as an integral part of the team,
not as a subordinate, each team member feels valued. This
results in greater trust, smoother communication and better
individual and team results.

Model the behaviour you want to see
As a leader you are the role model for the team. They set the
tone based on you. When things go wrong they look to you for
help. After a tough customer call it’s important that they feel
they can tell you about it - for two reasons: you never want to
be broad sided by an irate customer or customer issue, and you
want your team to have trust in you. You can information gather
after a tough call which allows you to identify any trends in
product issues or identify any training or interpersonal
issues. The sooner these are identified the better.

Jointly set objectives
It’s amazing what happens when team members are asked to set
monthly objectives! They gravitate toward those tasks that best
utilize their skills. Once your team members are clear of the
overall objectives they can begin to make them their own. They
explore how they can best support and advance the departmental
objectives. In a monthly one on one meeting you invite your
direct reports to prepare what they each feel are reasonable
objectives for the next month. Your role is to ensure that
these objectives are moving the individual and team forward in
achieving the overall objectives. Delegate any task that you
feel is best done by this person if they haven’t already added
it on to the list. Inform the team member why you would like
them to take it on (remember that the buy in is much greater
when you provide scope). If the team is working in harmony the
progress toward completing these objective increases. Result: a
more motivated, productive team.

Handle problems as soon as they arise
Just as we want customer problems to be handled immediately,
it’s important to assist in problem resolution as soon as it
arises. Here’s a watch point: you want to let your team members
to step out and try new things, take chances and manage the
consequences; however you need to be there as the support
system if they need you and to help as needed. Be there, be
available and be supportive.

Develop your team members
Look at each team member as an individual. If one of your team
members is very detail oriented try to give that person process
tasks that utilize those strengths. If another team member is a
high level type of person who achieves good results with the
efforts of others get that person involved in a team project.
Taking this individual approach will result in happier, more
productive and satisfied team members.

The bottom line is that you as the manager set the tone,
direction and expectations for the team. How you work with each
person, the team and each situation is an important part of
creating a positive, focused and energized team!

Home Remedies For Snoring Relief

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

==================
There are many home remedies for snoring relief that you can
try to break that annoying nighttime habit. Even if your
snoring problem is not serious, it could be keeping the one you
love awake at night. Or, if you live in a dormitory situation,
others around you may be having some troubles sleeping.

One of the best home remedies for snoring relief is to sleep on
your side. There is a possible solution if you fall asleep on
your side but then shift to your back while sleeping. There are
some special pillows or other contraptions that can keep you on
your side. Do some searching online and you will come across
these products.

Another of the home remedies for snoring relief is to avoid
alcohol or any other medication or drugs that cause to relax.
Alcohol and medication cause the muscles in the back of your
throat and neck to relax, thereby narrowing the hole in your
throat and causing you to snore.

If your snoring is the result of you being overweight, then
snoring isn’t really your problem. Your weight is the problem.
Furthermore, your weight is bringing more grief than just
snoring. If you are overweight, then you are also at risk for a
whole bunch of other conditions like diabetes and heart trouble.
You’ll be fighting an endless battle if you try to attack all
these symptoms of your obesity one by one. Focus your fight on
losing weight instead. Not only will your snoring go away, but
you will lower your risk for dozens of other conditions. If you
are obese, then losing weight is by far your best home remedy
for snoring relief.

Do you smoke? If yes, then quit. This could be the cause of
your snoring. And like losing weight, there are a million other
benefits to quitting smoking now. Not to mention, smoking is so
expensive these days. If you have young children or
grandchildren and you started today putting the amount of money
you spend on cigarettes into a college mutual fund for them,
there would be more than enough money to pay for their college
tuition by the time they got there. This should give you some
pause. Not only that, but it’s the home remedy for snoring
relief that you are looking for.

Finally, raising the head is a good way for some to stop
snoring. In fact, there are special pillows you can purchase to
raise the whole torso. This is extremely successful for many
people. However, I suggest that you first experiment that
raising the torso will work for you before you spend money on
one of those pillows. They can be a little expensive.

I would always recommend that someone who snores try all
possible snoring remedies before they resort to something like
surgery. In fact, most snorers don’t have a serious problem.
Signs that you should probably see a doctor are waking up
gasping for air, or feeling really tired at work or waking up
with headaches. If your snoring isn’t that serious, then you
should try the various home remedies for snoring relief.

potentially harmful solutions.
