Type 2 Diabetes Weight Loss Tips

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

==================
Diabetes is a disorder that affects men and women nation wide
on a daily basis. In both Type 1 and Type 2 versions of the
disorder, physical health and weight regulation are important
to a sufferers overall well-being.

So what is the difference between Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes?
Type 1 diabetics are typically diagnosed before the age of 40
with the disease that occurs when the body does not produce
insulin. The other form of diabetes, Type 2, is a result of low
insulin efficiency. In other words, the insulin is not as
effective in removing sugar from the blood and to the person’s
cells. With Type 2 Diabetes, weight loss is even more
essential.

Begin With A Goal

One of the best places to start to achieve diabetes weight loss
is with a realistic goal. Discuss with your doctor your ideal
healthy weight and how long he or she anticipates it will take
you to get there. Understand that losing weight quickly may
seem more satisfying; however, the healthier way to lose is
slowly at around two pounds per week.

Portion Control and Calorie Counting

As with other weight loss programs, diabetes weight loss
requires you to control calorie intake. It is a good idea to
have a strong rule of thumb guide to the portion sizes and the
number of calories you are putting in your mouth.

A baseball is the size of one serving of vegetables. A deck of
cards is approximately the size of a serving of meat, chicken
or fish. A golf ball is about the size of one quarter up of
dried fruits or nuts. If eyeballing it doesn’t work for you in
your diabetes weight loss plan, consider speaking to a
nutritionist and measuring food for a while.

In regards to calories, 3,500 equals approximately one pound of
fat. If 3,500 calories are eating that are not used, it seems to
reason that a pound can easily be put on. Similarly, if you can
burn 3,500 extra calories a week by reducing your calorie
intake and increasing your exercise routine, a pound can be
taken off in that week.

Maintenance

With Type 2 diabetes, weight loss is incredibly important to
maintain. This can be done with the utilization of a balanced
diet and an exercise routine. Remember to consult your doctor
on a diet plan that is right for you and your diabetes weight
loss plan.

Natural Allergy Remedies
If you don’t have the sometimes debilitating seasonal
allergies, you probably know someone who does suffer from
them. Allergies typically show up in spring and fall. It’s
especially hard to get out and really appreciate fields of
spring flowers or blazing colors in the fall. Burning,
itchy, and stinging red eyes and tightly stuffed or
irritatingly runny noses are de rigueur. Water accumulates
in the head, especially around the ears. Cuddly pets become
not so cuddly. Headaches only add to the brutal discomfort.

You may well wonder if there are any allergy remedies
sufficient enough that allow you to enjoy the seasons
without suffering the symptoms. Over the counter
medications typically offer temporary relief, but many
carry side effects such as drowsiness, that you really
can’t afford in your daily life. Here are a few natural
allergy remedies that deserve a try.

You first need to understand the overall dynamics of
allergies. The offending pollen, pet dander or mold has a
nasty habit of zeroing in on the lining of the mucous
membranes. One tiny grain of any of these offenders may
become attached to your soft mucous membranes, in the nasal
passages, triggering your immune system to produce large
amounts of histamines in response. These histamines cause
your body to respond to the invasion, producing a number of
reactions that cause your body to flush these unwanted
invaders. The results of this flushing action are the
symptoms of allergies, which are the cause of your intense
suffering!

Conventional over the counter anti-histamines destroy the
body’s natural defensive efforts to rid your body of the
offenders, while subduing the symptoms which caused you to
seek out medication in the first place. Aren’t there any
natural allergy home remedies that allow your body to do
the job without these cumbersome and annoying symptoms?

As a matter of fact, yes there are non drug induced
remedies available. Natural allergy remedies aim to prevent
symptoms before they occur. Here is just a short list of
allergy remedies that are definitely worthy of
consideration.

Dietary input figures prominently in the impact of your
allergy symptoms. Studies have shown that foods rich in the
Omega-3 fatty acids tend to suppress allergic reactions.
Cold water fish, flaxseed, naturally raised meats and eggs,
as well as walnuts are rich in this Omega-3 nutrient.
Include these foods in your daily diet for a positive
effect.

Among the natural allergy remedies, try spicy Dijon
mustard, horseradish or hot chili peppers as a nasal
decongestant. You’ll experience immediate relief.

In Indian culture, the Neti pot is the vehicle of choice. A
Neti pot is a small vase of salt water which is used like a
nasal spray, deactivating the offending intruder, both
preventing allergy attacks and relieving nasal congestion.

Other natural allergy remedies abound in the world of
herbs. Butterbur, a common weed in Europe, provides an
alternative to over the counter anti-histamines. Papaya
enjoys a special synergism with proteins, pertinent to ones
relief of allergy symptoms. Eyebright also relieves nasal
congestion, thick mucous and coughs. Hay fever and nasal
congestion may be relieved with skunk cabbage root.

For a truly off the wall treatment, try Cubeb, the unripe
berry of this native pepper of Sumatra. When crushed and
rolled into an herbal “cigarette”, hay fever symptoms will
subside.

Green tea has been the most popular drink in Asian countries for
centuries. But, in the Western world, black tea has been
overwhelmingly more popular than green tea until recently. But,
as we have learned more about green tea’s unique taste and many
health benefits, it has gained popularity all over the world.

Green tea, like black tea comes from the Camellia sinensis plant.
The difference between green and black tea comes from how the tea
is processed. Black tea is fermented during processing; green tea
is not. After the tea leaves are plucked, they are laid out to
wither for about 8 to 24 hours.

This lets most of the water evaporate. Next, to prevent the
oxidation (fermentation) process, the leaves are steamed or pan
fried. Finally the leaves are rolled before a final drying takes
place. After this final drying, the leaves, which still look
green, can now be sorted, graded and packaged.

The lack of fermentation causes green tea to look, smell and
taste different than black tea. It typically brews to a pale
green color and has a bit of a grassy flavor and aroma. This lack
of fermentation also causes green tea to have more health
benefits than black tea.

The fermenting process used for black and oolong teas causes a
compound called EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate) to be oxidized,
and converts it into other compounds. EGCG is a very powerful
anti-oxidant, but the compounds it converts to during fermenting
are not as healthful.

This difference means that this powerful anti-oxidant is in its
most natural state; the state in which it provides the most
protection to the body.

EGCG, like other anti-oxidants are important to the body because
they rid our bodies of free radicals. Free radicals are oxygen
containing molecules that are created as a byproduct of our
digestive processes. Unless they are eradicated from our bodies,
free radicals damage our cells and DNA, causing aging and
disease.

A diet rich in fruits and vegetables and other plant based foods
like green tea and wine, help us get the anti-oxidants we need to
stay healthy. And, EGCG is one of the best and most protective
anti-oxidants found in any food.

For this reason, cultures who have traditionally consumed large
amounts of green tea throughout their lives have been shown to
have lower incidences of many serious illnesses including cancer,
heart disease and high cholesterol. In recent years there has
been much scientific research linking green tea with a longer,
healthier life.

Green tea has also been shown to aid in weight loss by speeding
up the metabolism and increasing the oxidation of fat cells in
the body. For years it was assumed that green tea’s caffeine was
responsible for this ability to aid weight loss.

However, more recent research has shown that green tea is more
effective at speeding weight loss than other beverages with
higher caffeine contents. Researchers have concluded that it is
the caffeine in green tea combined with green tea’s
anti-oxidants that make green tea a better weight loss supplement
than other caffeinated beverages.

Green tea was first grown in China. Most of the green tea grown
today is grown in China and Japan, which is also where most of
the world’s green tea is consumed. However, it has gained a
great deal of popularity in other parts of the world, primarily
because we now better understand its health benefits.

Today, nearly any tea purveyor will carry green tea in loose
form. There are many green tea varieties with distinct tastes. In
addition, there are many varieties of flavored green tea. These
appeal to the many people who may not find plain green tea’s
somewhat grassy flavor to be appealing. When flavored with other
fruits and herbs, green tea can take on many different flavors.

One of the most traditional green tea forms is matcha. This form
of green tea is used in Japanese tea ceremonies and was the
primary form of green tea in Japan for centuries. Matcha is
simply green tea that has been crushed into powder form. It is
then whisked into hot water to make traditional Japanese green
tea. Most other parts of the world use loose tea to make green
tea rather than matcha.

Today, there are many varieties of green tea. Different green
teas will have slightly different tastes depending upon the
region in which they are grown and how they are flavored. If
you’re new to drinking green tea, there are many places to buy
green tea and many flavors with which to experiment.

To brew a cup of green tea, use fresh cold water. Fill your
kettle and place it on the stove to heat. While the water is
heating, add warm tap water to your teapot and your cups, if you
wish, to warm them. When the water comes to a boil, remove it
from the heat and remove the tap water from your teapot. Let the
water sit for about 2 minutes.

Green tea should be brewed with water that is about 160=83F, which
is cooler than most other teas. Add the green tea to your teapot
and pour water over the leaves. Use about 1 teaspoon of tea
leaves per cup. Most green tea should steep about 1-2 minutes
before serving. The best green tea should give you 2-3
infusions.

There are many varieties and flavors of green tea for you to try.
Buy a few different green teas in small quantities until you find
the green tea that’s perfect for you.

Tea: Ordering White Persian Melon Tea Online

Golden Moon Tea
http://www.GoldenMoonTea.com

Whether you’ve been drinking tea for years or are new to this
category of beverages, you simply must introduce yourself to
white tea. White tea’s light and delicate flavor appeals to most
everyone, including people who find black teas too strong.

One of the best white teas to try when you’re new to white tea
drinking is white Persian melon tea. I say this because white
Persian melon has a fruity taste and is one of the most
refreshing white teas on the market. And, white Persian melon can
be enjoyed hot or cold, so it’s a very versatile tea.

Trying white Persian melon tea will not only give your taste buds
a boost, but it can improve your health, too. White tea is
renowned for its ability to boost the immune system and fight
infection, so a regular diet of white tea during the cold and flu
months may keep you going strong.

In addition, long term ingestion of the anti-oxidants found in
white and green tea have been shown to lower your risk of cancer,
high cholesterol and heart disease. Tea’s anti-oxidants are
powerful fighters of free radicals in our bodies. Free radicals
are created as a by product of digestion. Left unchecked, they
damage the DNA and cells in our bodies, causing disease and
aging. A diet rich in anti-oxidants is the best way to combat
these free radicals and the anti-oxidants in tea have been found
to be some of the most effective around.

But, even in the white tea category, white Persian melon ranks as
one of the best for your health. This is because melon is also a
potent anti-oxidant source. Melon contains an anti-oxidant called
GliSODin. This particular anti-oxidant is known to neutralize
some of the most destructive free radicals in our bodies.

However, GliSODin also has the power to stimulate our bodies to
produce its own anti-oxidants, and has been clinically proven to
help maintain cellular health and protect against oxidative
damage in several studies. GliSODin is so powerful that it has
even found to be effective when used topically.

In addition to GliSODin, melon is a good source of vitamin C,
vitamin A, beta carotene and lycopene, all potent anti-oxidants
in their own rights. So, as you can see, drinking white Persian
melon tea may just be an investment in your long term health as
well as being delicious.

The biggest problem I can find with white Persian melon tea is
that it’s available from limited sources. White tea, in general,
is rare, because it is harvested just once a year, and because
compared to the number of tea bushes in the world used to produce
green and black teas, there are very few white tea plants being
grown. With the increase in popularity of white tea, I think
it’s fair to say that white tea production will increase.
However, tea plants take several years to mature enough to be
harvested, so even if every tea garden that makes quality white
tea planted thousands of new bushes, it would be a few years
before the market would see that impact.

Because white Persian melon tea is just one blend of white tea,
it is even more difficult to come by. Many people are lucky
enough to have several very good tea stores in their local area.
If you are one of these people, you may be able to find some high
quality flavored white teas locally. Look for these things when
you purchase white tea:

* It must be loose tea – Don’t even bother with white tea in
bag form. It’s just as expensive as loose tea, and is far
inferior in quality. Plus, you can’t see what you’re getting
when tea is in a bag.

* It should be fluffy in appearance. White tea should not be
compact.

* The leaves should have a bit of a silver appearance.

* The aroma should be delicate. Flavored white tea will carry
the scent of the flavoring more than the scent of the tea.

If you’re unable to find good white tea locally, your best bet
is to order online. In fact, online ordering is great for anyone,
because it allows you access to the finest tea shops in the
world, regardless of where you live.

The one downside to online ordering is the fact that you don’t
get the opportunity to see and taste the tea before you buy. But,
some of the best online tea houses have come up with a solution
to this dilemma. Many offer a sampler package that offers small
quantities of several of their teas at a reasonable price. This
allows you to try the tea before you order a large quantity.

Another way to ensure that you will be satisfied with a tea
you’ve purchased sight unseen is to only buy from online tea
houses that provide a money back guarantee. This way if you
don’t like the tea once you’ve tasted it, you can get your
money back.

Online ordering will increase your chances of being able to find
rare white teas like white Persian melon, but you’ll still find
that it’s very difficult to find, particularly in the best
quality. Few tea companies produce this combination, and even
fewer produce it with the best white tea.

Be certain to sample Golden Moon Tea’s White Persian Melon.
It’s the best quality loose white tea mixed with the nectar of
melon. You can count on Golden Moon to carry only the best teas
at a fair price. And, like all fine tea purveyors, there’s
always a money back guarantee. It’s likely that Golden Moon’s
White Persian Melon will be one of your all time favorites.

Spirituality Information – John Harricharan’s Interview With Terri Marie (Q2)

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

==================
Terri Marie: And I can’t wait to tell, it’s launched in the
very, very near future and I know it’s going to be great.
You’ve talked a lot about energy and how the universe is made
up of energy. And I believe our goal is to get to the higher
vibration sets where we can attract more of the things that we
desire. How do we get to the higher vibrations? Can you give
some simple steps or some guidelines to point people down the
path towards raising their energy vibration?

John: Yes, the simpler answer is 848.

Terri Marie: Okay. And could you give me the complex part of
that answer.

John: And the reason I said that is because there is no simple
nor complex answer. There is just an answer, which we at this
stage of our evolution have no idea of. We might think we know
and we know a little bit more than we did five centuries ago.
But I think it’s an evolution in spirit and mind maybe even in
body and I won’t touch that part of it, but it’s a growth and a
learning of the spirit because all the laws of the universe
exist right now just like they did 10 centuries ago or 10
millennium ago.

The knowledge of how to fly an airplane or build a 747 jet
existed millions of years ago, it just didn’t come up here,
just didn’t appear in one blinding movement of truth, the art
of flying given to the Wright brothers from which a lot of our
flying evolved. But it was there, the concept and mathematics,
that one plus one equal to two, existed forever, just like every
other law exists right now.

We are given an opportunity to learn them, discover them for
ourselves and use them and it will appear to me having spent
some time or quite some time, if you will, with some of the
masters of the Far East, some yogi masters and Shambhala
masters, having one of them being my teacher actually in some
little way.

I am convinced that this is an energy universe and energy has
vibration, and vibrations and energy are interchangeable just
like energy and matter are interchangeable. So what I am
driving at right now, Terri Marie, is to say there is no
difference and there is no disconnection between every life
form on earth or in the universe and I am sure there are lots
of others and we are in touch with one another and we can
influence one another whenever we get into the proper
frequency, because frequency again and vibrations and so forth
they all have a scientific background. And it’s a matter of
being tuned into the right station.

Right now as we speak, all the radio stations in your area are
on the air simultaneously not sequentially, one doesn’t start
and then stops for the other one to follow. They are all
broadcasting right now. And if you have your beautiful little
radio tuned into one of them, you will exclude all the others.
If you want to change from that one, you just turn the knob or
the dial or whatever is it to another frequency. And when you
do that you will exclude the one you were just listening to.

So in the universe in all time space situations, there are
various frequencies and we through meditation, through player,
through quiet or the inner silence, could tune into these very
stations.

For example, let’s say one is having a difficulty with
acquiring abundance wealth. One gets to the spot where you
tune into the wealth channel. You become really still. As you
do that, the frequency is such that data will flow to you,
inspiration will flow to you, and you will be moved to do the
exact things that will lead you to tremendous success in
obtaining the money you want. Same goes for relationship and
so forth.

Terri Marie: John, is that something that you’re going to help
people with on the Spiritual simplicity site?

John Harricharan: I will certainly give them tips and show
them how they could achieve that. It’s not very difficult.
When I say it’s not very difficult, I mean there is some
effort. The very simple thing of getting into the silence
seems so simple when I become quiet. No, saying so doesn’t
really make it so. You have to practice. I think anyone could
become a master in about three weeks. Give or take a couple of
days. Of course, I’m being

Green Tea Extract Powers You To Better Health

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

==================
The healing properties of green tea have become so well known
that it was only time until the green tea extract would be sold
on the open market. The internet is swarming with ads for green
tea extract. Green tea extract comes in two forms; liquid and
in capsules. The extract is a super concentrated combination of
the polyphenols and catechins that are attributed as the healing
components in green tea.

The liquid form of green tea extract is much more highly
concentrated in these properties than the capsule form. The
capsules contain from 40%-50% polyphenols, while the liquid
form contains over 80% polyphenols. But even so, the capsules
have been the most popular. The reason for the capsules
popularity is they have found that it is difficult to create a
good tasting liquid green tea extract.

The capsules can be put into hot water or made into a delicious
iced tea. But as the green tea fad is spreading, more companies
are claiming that they have developed the better tasting liquid
green tea extract. So not only are you getting a great tasting
green tea, but you are also getting a very potent one as well.

The Benefits

Green tea extract provides many health benefits. Some of these
benefits have been researched and proven, and some are still in
the stages of research but are highly recommended. It really
only takes common sense to realize how good green tea extract
is for the human body.

Some of the health benefits include: prevention for dental
decay and gum disease, and helps eliminate bad breath. It is
also proven to help with weight loss, helps with the digestive
system and reduces bloating, proven to help prevent heart
disease, protects the prostate from cancer, one of the
strongest anti-oxidants on the market, normalizes healthy
bacteria in the intestines and recommended by the Cancer
Society as a “High Priority for Cancer Prevention.”

The benefits of this extract to your body’s vital organs go on
and on. The green tea extract capsules can also be taken orally
with lots of water. This is probably the ideal way for people to
take the extract who do not like the taste of green tea or who
want to get a quick dose of green tea extract. The internet is
full of companies where you can purchase green tea extract in
capsule or liquid form. You can also get the extract over the
counter at your local drug store and grocery store.

’s Protection For Diabetics

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

==================
Diabetes is one of our leading killers. Today, over 20 million
people in the US have diabetes, and nearly one third of them
don’t even know it. In addition, about 54 million people are
pre-diabetic, meaning that their blood sugar levels are higher
than normal, but not high enough to cause a diagnosis of
diabetes.

Complications from diabetes include blindness, cataracts,
kidney problems, heart disease, stroke, nerve damage and foot
and skin problems.

Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce or
properly use insulin, the hormone that converts sugar and other
food into energy. The most common type of diabetes seen today is
Type II, where insulin is produced (though sometimes not in a
high enough quantity), but is not used properly, resulting in a
high level of blood glucose in the body.

Type I diabetes is diagnosed in childhood, and results from an
inability to produce insulin.

Doctors are not entirely sure of the cause of diabetes, but we
do know that people who are obese and who do not get regular
exercise are at a much greater risk of developing Type II
diabetes than those who exercise and maintain a healthy weight.
Family history also plays a part.

There is no cure for diabetes. Once you have developed the
disease, you must simply work to control your blood sugar
levels for the rest of your life. Some Type II diabetics are
dependent upon insulin injections, while others are able to
control their diabetes through diet and exercise.

All Type I diabetics require insulin treatment because their
body is not able to produce insulin on its own.

For Type II diabetics, it is preferable to be able to control
their blood sugars without the use of insulin. If insulin is
required, patients must either give themselves daily
injections, or require an insulin pump. Either is cumbersome
and restrictive, so managing the diabetes naturally is
certainly preferred.

To manage Type II diabetes without insulin, careful attention
must be paid to the food that you eat, and blood sugar levels
must be monitored religiously. Diabetics who are managing their
disease without medication must be careful to get enough
exercise each day to account for the carbohydrates they consume
in order to prevent their blood sugar levels from skyrocketing.

For these patients, any help in regulating blood sugar is
welcome. And, it’s possible that some help may come in the form
of tea. Much research has been performed in the last few years
on the ability of tea, particularly green tea, to naturally
regulate blood sugar levels.

Tea is full of anti-oxidants, which are very important in
preventing disease. Anti-oxidants fight the free radicals that
our body creates each day during the digestive process. Left
unchecked, free radicals cause disease and aging. Free radicals
are known to contribute to heart disease and cancer.

It’s likely that these anti-oxidants in tea are the reason that
it helps control blood sugar, too. One study, reported by the UK
Tea Council, examined each and every form of anti-oxidant in tea
and measured its effect on non-insulin dependent diabetics.

This study found a direct correlation between anti-oxidant
activity in the body and the consumption of green tea. As much
as a 24% decrease in the activity of erythrocyte membranes that
contribute to heart disease were noted with the consumption of
tea’s anti-oxidants. This is important, since 3 of 5 diabetics
will suffer a heart attack.

Other studies have shown that tea had a significant effect on
the blood glucose levels of diabetic mice. When the mice were
given tea, their blood sugar levels stayed consistent and did
not rise above normal levels. Another study showed that green
tea consumption of less than 5 cups per day may have the power
to reduce blood sugar levels enough to reduce the complications
of diabetes.

While it’s certain that more research is needed, there is much
promise in the use of tea to help control diabetes. There are
likely many more studies that need to be conducted before we
fully understand what tea can do for diabetics and exactly how
it works.

It will indeed be good news to learn exactly how tea’s
anti-oxidants prevent diseases and exactly which diseases it
affects. It will also be useful to learn how much tea we need
to drink and if drinking it a certain times of the day decrease
or increase its effectiveness.

But, while we’re waiting for more information, there’s no
reason that you can’t go ahead and add tea to your diet, if
you’re not already drinking it. Tea is healthy and has no side
effects.

So, whether your preference is green tea or black, hot or cold,
with milk or without, drink your tea today. And if you’re
struggling to control diabetes without the use of insulin, tea
may also help you in this battle.

Natural Acne Herbal Remedies
Despite a person’s age, one of the most frustrating known
conditions to deal with is acne. Although we often label
this condition as a teenager’s problem, it’s something that
can last well into our adult lives. In fact, some people
may struggle with acne their entire lifetime. Finding acne
products that work in relieving and treating the symptoms
can be a tiresome challenge. Many of the well-known
treatments are filled with abrasive and harsh chemicals
that can irritate the sensitive skin of the face. A much
better alternative that seems to work well for many are the
vast range of acne herbal remedies.

There are many misconceptions regarding why some people are
more prone to blemishes than others. We’ve all heard that
not washing your face often and thorough enough, or eating
chocolate and oily foods can lead to breakouts. Although
the cause of each individual case may vary, treatments
usually work well regardless of what’s at the root cause of
the acne. Both acne herbal remedies and traditional
treatments are designed to combat the blemishes and act to
make them disappear.

Researching the available acne treatments is a fairly
simple task with the convenience of the Internet. Some
natural products can be difficult to find so it’s a good
idea to stick to acne herbal remedies that are readily
available nearby. There are actually many savvy techniques
that can be used to combat this skin condition that
involves products or items that you may already have in
your own home.

Toothpaste is actually a product that can do much more than
just keep your teeth white and clean. Although many people
don’t necessarily view it as falling into the acne herbal
remedies category, it actually does. A small amount of
toothpaste placed on a blemish before going to bed can help
dry it out more quickly. The best toothpaste to use is
likely one that is mint flavored. It’s recommended to stay
away from the colored pastes or those that have mouthwash
in them.

Strawberry leaves offer some extra benefits for women when
it comes to treating this annoying and embarrassing skin
problem. Acne herbal remedies that use strawberry leaves
just require the woman to wash her face as she normally
would and then lay the leaves on the areas where the
blemishes are appearing. The leaves have a cool, soothing
quality to them which can remove some of the swelling that
often occurs with a break-out.

Lemon juice is something that can be found practically
anywhere and has been shown to be effective for some in
battling acne. When using lemon juice as one of the acne
herbal remedies, opt for fresh lemons and squeeze them
yourself. Apply the fresh juice to any blemishes. The acid
in the juice will help dry the pimple much more quickly and
you’ll have a clearer complexion in no time at all.

Cold Sore Treatment: A Free And Easy 3-step Home Remedy

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

==================
Are you searching for a good cold sore treatment? Thousands of
cold sore folks like you and I are every day.

Well, do not spend your hard-earned money before you read about
this powerful cold sore treatment 3-step plan. It is a home
remedy that provides amazing relief, without having to buy some
“secret” formula.

There are a lot of over-the-counter and prescription cold sore
treatment products that claim to be the latest and greatest
miracle. You buy one and try it, and, again, you are
disappointed.

Truth is, most cold sore treatment products you find in stores
are mainly comfort remedies. Nothing wrong with that – doing
whatever you can to reduce the pain and discomfort while the
cold sore is healing.

And even the prescription drugs that you read about in the
papers have a very poor track record for reducing the length of
the cold sore event. Studies show that the best of these may
reduce the cold sore period by a few days. No big deal when
they last three to four weeks.

If you could find a cold sore treatment plan that would give
you maximum comfort, while cutting the healing time by a week
or more – would that not be great?

You can do that right now.

But, quickly, let us first look at what we are dealing with.
The root cause of cold sores, fever blisters, or oral herpes is
an infestation of the herpes simplex virus. This parasite virus
lives in your nerve cells and is usually dormant. For cold
sores, which occur mainly on the face, the herpes virus hides
in the nerve ganglia under or behind your ear on the same side
as your cold sore outbreak.

When this virus senses a weakness in your immune system, it
will grab the opportunity to replicate. To do so, the cold sore
virus will travel to the end of the nerve where it is living -
ending up on the surface of your lip or nose. During the
replication process, a hoard of new herpes virus is created.
Millions of your cells are destroyed in this process, creating
an open wound right on the end of a nerve. Ouch!

Now you need an effective cold sore treatment.

If you are vigilant, you can stop the replication process, wipe
out millions of viruses, and send the remaining virus back into
hibernation. And it is amazing how quickly your cold sore will
heal once you have removed the cold sore virus from the area.

What cold sore treatment can do this?

Plain ice or another cold object, such as a can of soda.

Seems too simple, right?

But ice is a very good cold sore treatment. It reduces
swelling, heat and pain and chases the cold sore virus away.
Ice, or similar, is free and available just about anywhere you
might be when you suddenly feel a cold sore coming on. Put the
ice in a plastic bag for less mess.

But, you must act quickly, at the first inkling of a cold sore.
Even a couple hours delay can mean you will get a full-blown
cold sore that could last 3 weeks or more.

Yes, as soon as you can, apply some cold object to it.

No matter how far along your cold sore, ice is a very good cold
sore treatment. It can reduce the cold sore event by 35% or
more. It will also work with, and boost, any other treatment,
whether oral or topical.

A great virus killer for surface use is alcohol. It can sting,
if you have not numbed it with ice first, but it is the gold
standard for keeping a wound clean and reducing infections. Use
a cotton ball or tissue to apply it. You do not want to
contaminate your fingers and spread it to someone else or to
another location on yourself.

To speed healing even faster, try using some fresh sap from the
Aloe Vera plant leaf. Just break off an inch or so of a leaf and
apply the sap to the wound. Be sure to use the alcohol, or some
other germ killer first. Aloe can heal right over an infection.

Also, do not waste your time on bottled Aloe Vera. It just does
not have the healing power. Get a live plant for home – they are
available nearly anywhere. Every household should have one. Aloe
Vera is useful for a great many things besides a cold sore
treatment.

There you have it – one of my favorite cold sore treatment
plans in a nutshell. It is a powerful plan you can use right
this minute to heal that cold sore.

Yes, it is quite simple but it is a well proven and powerful
three-step cold sore treatment.

Keeping Your Mouth Happy And Healthy

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

#################
Did you know that having a healthy mouth also affects the rest
of your physical health? If you don’t take the necessary time
every day to keep your mouth clean and your smile beautiful, it
could actually make you sick. But don’t worry! Here are some
simple and easy steps you can take to ensure that you keep your
mouth happy and healthy =96 for life!

Brush Twice Daily!

It might sound trite, but if you repeat this as a mantra and
actually do it, you’ll stand a much better chance against
cavity-causing bacteria. Brush for at least two minutes each
time =96 try singing “Happy Birthday” to yourself two or three
times to get the timing right.

Floss, floss, floss.

How many times have you gone to the dentist, dreading the awful
question: “so, have you been flossing regularly?” Here’s the
thing: flossing removes food particles that get stuck between
your teeth, and over time, these essentially start to rot=85
causing cavities in your mouth. Floss before you brush =96 and
who knows, you might actually look forward to your next
dentist’s visit!

Reduce Caffeine, Alcohol, and Soda

The problem with caffeine and alcohol is that beverages which
contain these elements may introduce too much phosphorous into
your body, which reduces your calcium levels. And if you’re
getting more calcium but still drinking too much coffee, you’re
basically negating any of the benefits you’d hoped to get from
the calcium. In moderation, caffeine and alcohol shouldn’t
present a problem. The same is true for soda, as it’s high in
sugar and corn syrup which can really do a number on your teeth
if you don’t brush regularly.

Visit Your Dentist

You absolutely must visit your dentist twice a year. As much as
you may not enjoy those trips, dentists are professionals who
are trained to check for oral disease and diagnose and correct
minor mouth issues before they become a larger problem. Also,
regular dental check-ups are preventative: that means you’ll be
less likely to have cavities or painful dental issues down the
road if you take the time to visit your dentist on a regular
basis.

Use the Correct Toothbrush & Toothpaste

You need a toothbrush that will allow you to brush your teeth
and your tongue without agitating your gums. Use a toothbrush
with medium or soft, rounded bristles, and use a brush shape
that will most easily allow you to reach those tough areas at
the back. Combine it with a toothpaste that contains fluoride.

These next few tips are things that you might not be able to do
on a daily basis but should still be aware of, as well as some
lifestyle tips to help you keep your mouth healthy and happy.
Remember, dental health is an everyday task =96 being aware of
what you put in your mouth is just as important as making sure
you brush regularly.

More Calcium!

Do you drink milk every day? How do you feel about things like
cheese, yogurt, and green vegetables? These are easily acquired
foods that not only taste good, but also can help to increase
your calcium intake. The more calcium you ingest, the healthier
your mouth will be. Why? Calcium is a key component in the
enamel on your teeth, and the more calcium you have, the
stronger and healthier your teeth will be! There are many
fruits and vegetables that contain calcium, so you don’t need
to stick to dairy products if you’re concerned about the fat
content. Of course, there are also many fantastic low-fat and
lactose-free products available these days to help
health-conscious individuals get all the calcium they need for
their teeth, while also keeping a close watch on their physical
health.

Just follow these 6 simple steps, and you’ll be on your way to
a happier and healthier mouth in no time!
