Weight Loss – Get The Basics Right
Have you decided to lose weight? Well you are certainly not
alone. Did you know that statistics show more than half the
population of the USA are overweight and about 80% of them
are on a diet?

Now if 80% of the overweight people in the USA are on a
diet at any given time, and the diets worked, you would
expect that number and percentage to fall.

Right?

But it doesn’t! There are still 50% of Americans overweight
and this percentage is rising.

Unfortunately statistics also show that the vast majority
of people who lose weight, following a diet, just put it
all back on again (and often times more). So, if you are
planning to lose weight and want to try a diet or weight
loss plan make sure you get the basics right so you don’t
become another statistic!

There are almost as many diet and weight loss plans are
there are people who use them. Due to the vast array of
choices, combined with so many differing opinions, it
becomes overwhelming and seems almost impossible to decide.
So before you begin investigating, the best weight loss
plan for you, here are a few tips to get you started.

Consult a professional who specializes in weight loss. This
does not mean someone who runs weight-watchers or “Sue”
next door who lost 20 lbs. Your doctor is usually the best
place to start as he/she will direct you to the
appropriate, recognised, health care professionals. Watch
your fat intake. Many times people launch into a diet and
watch every tiny calorie they consume but fail to read the
fat content on the label. Calories still count but fat is a
killer as well as a big contributor to weight gain. If you
reduce your fat intake this will have a dramatic effect on
your overall weight-loss and your health! Keep a food
diary. Health and nutrition professionals advise this as a
first step in weight management. A diary of your food
intake and exercise routines is a great way to analyse your
eating habits. Doing this can also identify any emotional
or stress factors that may be causing you to over-eat. Pick
a few weight loss plans that you think you could stick to
or (dare I say it) even enjoy. Research them and find out
which has the highest PERMANENT positive gains. Look at
what food is allowed and what is not. How much exercise is
recommended? Do you have time to cook all those strange
dishes? There is no point launching on a health quest to
lose weight if you are going to get discourage at the very
outset. Plan ahead. Once you’ve picked your diet run it
past your doctor or health care professional. Many diets
can be dangerous if not followed to the letter and a very
low calorie diet (below the recommended level) can cause
long-lasting harmful effects to your body.

Once you are set and have started your diet be sure to
write all your positive gains in your diary. Don’t be
afraid to congratulate yourself on every little gain. Do
not get discouraged if you don’t hit your target or if you
only lost 1 lb. You are still going in the right direction.
Spoil yourself a little. Buy yourself some new clothes for
your new body and enjoy the fact that you have succeeded.
This is positive reinforcement and will help you to
maintain your dietary plan and your weight.

#################
Deciduous trees thrive in a variety of climates. They are a
hearty lot of trees but proper care is necessary to see that
your deciduous trees flourish and survive.

Call it being proactive, call it using your green-thumb, call
it common horticultural knowledge. However you choose to see
it, becoming deciduous-tree savvy is needed, and fairly easy to
do. If you are unfamiliar with how to care for your deciduous
trees, read on to build a knowledge-base to keep your trees
healthy and promote longevity.

Many deciduous trees, fruit trees especially, can survive in
mountain regions=97such as the apple tree or cherry tree, for
instance. The apple tree requires extra chilling and cooler
summer temps, so mountain regions offer this weather-bound
setting. Many mountain regions, however, suffer from a risk of
late frosts. Desert locations are another potential location
for deciduous fruit trees. You rule out late frosts, for the
most part anyway. Yet, mountain or foothill regions are, by
far, a fairer location to plant deciduous trees.

When you plant your deciduous trees, choose a location with
lots of sunlight and, if possible, protected from high winds.
This will aid protecting trees during any unfortunate storms
that blow across the region.

Some deciduous fruit trees require cross-pollination in order
for the fruit tree to germinate and bud. Be certain that you
find a compatible pollinator. You can do this by using a
two-in-one or three-in-one grafted tree can be used. See your
local nursery for further details.

Just as taking a proactive mindset to your planting is key,
it’s also a good idea to label varieties. If, for instance, a
tree dies, you can quickly replace it. Having a backup map with
written labels is another good idea, in the event that labels
are lost or damaged due to inclement weather conditions.

Deciduous fruit trees should be pruned annually. Do so before
buds swell. This promotes optimal growth and yield. Pruning,
although sometimes arduous, doesn’t need to be a complicated
endeavor. Again, it’s a matter of doing a little research,
become familiar with the trees life cycle.

Three pruning phases are necessary for deciduous fruit trees.
The first phase occurs during the planting phase of the tree.
The goal is to help the tree create a vase-shaped structure.
Also, when visiting a local nursery, be certain to purchase
trees with well-developed root structures. Even though the
upper portion of the tree might catch your eye when shopping for
a hearty-looking tree, if the root system is weak, you may have
trouble harvesting deciduous fruit trees.

The second pruning phase begins once the first year of growth
is complete. Prune back your tree and cut it into scaffolds.
This layering of branches promotes the greatest yield. Create
some gaps, but don’t prune back too much.

The third phase of pruning occurs once a tree reaches maturity,
anywhere from 5-7 years for most deciduous trees. Prune the
tree for fruit production during this phase. Pruning, again,
needs to be focused on layering, or designing well-spaced
scaffolding for fruit development and growth.

For more information on pruning fruit trees, contact the UC
Cooperative Extension in Bakersfield, California. They have a
47-page journal entitled Pruning Fruit and Nut Trees. You can
also contact your local nursery to gain further information on
caring for deciduous trees in your area.

If you want to go from a weekend cyclist to a true cycling
superstar, it is going to take time, training, and the right
gear to get you there. When the Santini pro-sponsored team rode
in the Tour de France, they were doing it wearing a sleeveless
jersey which helped them ride in comfort on those hot and humid
days. If you are looking for gear that gets you through rough
terrain, multiple climates and long excursions, look for the
same gear that the professionals use.

You might think that you could never afford the pro gear that
riders everywhere are turning to in large numbers with but these
cycling clothes are available to cyclists at all levels for
reasonable prices. The comfort and durability of items like the
sleeveless jersey from Santini are worth owning. The item will
last longer than a lesser brand and you will perform better in a
product that is designed for professionals. Looking into owning
a few pieces of biking gear used by the pros is a step toward
better biking performance and a more enjoyable experience.

As you consider purchasing cycling attire for your self or
family members, look for brands such as Inverse, Santini, Ms
Tina and BioRacer. These brands offer original team issue
clothing sure to get any cycling enthusiast in the pro biking
mindset. As you train and begin to understand the powerful
benefits of owning quality gear, evaluate what areas you could
use help with and consider additional pro gear pieces to help
you move up in your training. Look for pro clothing when it
comes to your cycling jerseys, both long and short sleeved.
Look for the right bike shorts, such as Santini bib shorts, and
get the comfort and style that the pros have.

Don’t forget about the little details when it comes to your
biking style, either. While you are checking out the best
cycling jackets on the market, look for a cycling cap as well as
knee warmers and arm warmers to keep you on the trails even when
it the temperature dips as the evening sets in. You will be
feeling the burn and keeping cozy as well with the best riding
gear on the market to back you up. The pros trust these brands
for good reason. You too can rely on them to get you through the
rough patches of your training in great condition.

Let’s not forget, you will love the way that you look in
original team issue clothing from brands like BioRacer, Inverse,
Santini, or Ms Tina, as much as you love the way that you feel.
There is nothing like knowing that you have all of the
advantages behind you to help you step up your training and
really push the limits of what you thought you could handle.
Original team issue gear is more comfortable, more durable, and
the kind of gear trusted by the pros to help them get through
the toughest races like the Tour de France as well as their
daily training and practice. With the power of the pros behind
you, you will be ready to take on any race.

        #=
#################
In order to achieve their goals, bodybuilders must have a bevy
of tools at their disposal. Of course, their greatest tool of
all is their body; but in order to elevate their physical body
to the level that they need to compete, they must utilize a
combination of intense diet and exercise. However, the exercise
required by bodybuilders also necessitates the use of
bodybuilding equipment to maximize the building and sculpting of
muscle.

Bodybuilding equipment includes those materials that help
bodybuilders increase their muscle mass and sculpt muscles. Such
equipment normally includes different sized weights and is
either used as a part of a weight training machine or as free
weights (those weights free of the machine). What is most
important in the use of this bodybuilding equipment is proper
technique. For those who are novices in weight training, it is
absolutely imperative to work with a trained professional who
can guide you in proper technique so as to avoid injury and
maximize results.

The easiest and most convenient way to find professionals of
this kind is to sign up at a local gym. If you are serious about
bodybuilding, a reputable gym can provide access to all of the
bodybuilding equipment you will need to realize your goals; and,
even more important, it will provide you access to personal
trainers who can help you meet your objectives in an effective
and safe manner. Gym membership may be pricey. But it is not as
high a price as you’d pay if you should injure yourself lifting
weights incorrectly.

Bodybuilding equipment =96 such as weights =96 is used to
continually strengthen, and therefore build, lean muscle mass.
Effectively building muscle relies on consistent weight training
through “sets” of different moves focused on particular muscle
groups. Many bodybuilders follow a routine in which they work on
legs and abdominal muscles one day and arms and back the next. A
professional trainer can help you put together a routine that
works best for your schedule and is based on the specific
fitness goals you wish to meet.

Ultimately, the most important piece of bodybuilding equipment
is your body itself. No weight training will effectively help
you realize your goals without the proper support through diet
and other healthy lifestyle commitments. With an overall
lifestyle committed to working towards optimum physical fitness,
you will quickly realize your bodybuilding goals.

Are you looking for a comfortable place to take it easy so you
can truly enjoy the new outdoor area that you just built? If so,
look no further than Adirondack chairs. They are the premiere
seating selection for any outdoor area.

You might be thinking, what makes Adirondack chairs so special.
Well, first off they have a highly relaxing design. This design
will usually features an angled backrest, oversize armrests, a
spacious, sloping seat, and the entire chair itself will sit
lower to the ground, which makes relaxing a breeze.

Another thing that makes Adirondack chairs such a great buy,
along with how comfortable they are, is that they are very
appealing to the eye, which is the result of all the different
materials that they can be crafted from. Some of these materials
include woods like Southern Yellow Pine, Western Red Cedar,
Alder, and Teak along with other man made options like plastic
and recycled plastic. Each one of these materials very beautiful
on its own, but they are also available in a wide variety of
colors and finishes so you can give your space a personal touch
if you want to. Like, let’s say that you like things that are
more vibrant, then a great option for you would be one crafted
out of Southern Yellow Pine that is painted a bright red color.
Or, maybe you like darker colors, then a great choice for you is
one made from plastic that has a deep green color infused right
into it. Plus, all of these materials are extremely durable, so
you do not have to worry about replacing yours sooner rather
than later.

Since Adirondack chairs are so comfortable, beautiful, and
durable, they would be an ideal choice for any outdoor area.
Like, take your backyard deck for example. Maybe you are sick of
sitting in the same old patio chairs that you have been sitting
in year after year, well, then this new seating option would be
an ideal way for you to revamp the seating in the space. You
could buy some of the dining chair variety for making those
outdoor meals very relaxing and comfortable. Plus, you could
even through in a couple of the traditional variety as a nice
spot to relax after a stressful day at the office. When it comes
down to it, this seating option would really work well in any
setting and other places that you could put one include any
porch, patio, garden, or lawn area.

For a great way to check out all the different Adirondack chair
options that you could get for your outdoor space, forget about
going to your local lawn or furniture store. Instead, just do
some online shopping on the Internet. Just by the click of the
mouse you can find what you want and do not even have to leave
your home to do it.

So, if you are in the market for a highly relaxing place to sit
in your outdoor space, one of the best options around is
Adirondack chairs. They would be a nice addition to any outdoor
area. Get one today, when you are relaxing the afternoon away in
Apple cider vinegar is inexpensive, readily available and comes
with a host of health and beauty benefits. The list of benefits
is so extensive in fact, that entire books have been written
about the many uses of apple cider vinegar.

It is important to note that there is a very distinct
difference between the clear vinegar you find in your grocery
store and raw, unfiltered and un-distilled apple cider vinegar.
Raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar will be cloudy or murky and
have filaments floating in it which is known as “the mother”
which means that the vinegar still contains vitamins, enzymes
and nutrients.

Some of the many nutrients that apple cider vinegar contains
are calcium, iron, potassium, magnesium and phosphorous. It also
contains pectin which reduces cholesterol, lowers blood pressure
and eases constipation. Potassium improves hair, teeth and
nails, prevents cramps and helps detox the body.

The antioxidants in apple cider vinegar also provide a host of
anti aging and disease fighting benefits. The malic acid helps
remove uric acid from the body which alleviates joint pain and
arthritis. The manganese, magnesium, silicon and calcium helps
to maintain bone mass and prevent osteoporosis.

Users of apple cider vinegar report that it has reduced or
eliminated their allergies, skin conditions and acne, flu,
candida, acid reflux, arthritis, gout and more. Other people
swear that their skin and hair has never looked better since
they started drinking apple cider vinegar.

Apple cider vinegar also helps to facilitate weight loss
because it helps break down fat, controls blood sugar levels,
increases energy levels and helps stabilize appetite.

Apple cider vinegar is safe for pregnancy, can help reduce acid
reflux, morning sickness, varicose veins and leg cramps. It is
also an excellent way to obtain additional food based vitamins
and minerals for proper fetal development. Apple cider vinegar
is also believed to assist the body’s blood clotting ability so
taking a vinegar cocktail every day during pregnancy may help to
prevent hemorrhage during childbirth.

Due to the fact that apple cider vinegar has anti bacterial,
anti fungal and anti viral properties, taking a vinegar cocktail
daily may help you from catching colds or flus that are passed
around by improving your immune system and you may also be able
to reduce the severity of the illness by bumping up your daily
apple cider vinegar dose after the onset of symptoms.

There are many ways to take apple cider vinegar. The standard
cocktail is simply one to two tablespoons of raw apple cider
vinegar with one to two tablespoons of raw honey in a glass of
water up to three times daily. Some people also use apple cider
vinegar to rinse their hair, wash their face, add it to their
bath or diluted in enemas or douches. The easiest way to
incorporate apple cider vinegar into your routine is to mix it
with oil in lieu of store bought salad dressings.

If you are looking for a safe, natural, inexpensive way to a
more youthful body, easier weight loss, improved immune system
and healthier blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol levels
along with improved detoxification, energy and digestion and
healthy skin, hair and joints then why not give a daily ACV
cocktail a try?

        ==================
Silk bedding can add a real sense of luxury, richness and yes
even better health to any bed and bedroom. The term “silk
bedding” can be a bit confusing, however, because there are
several types of silk used to create bedding.

Before shopping for any silk bedding items, it is important to
understand the different types of silk and the benefits of each.
Let’s look at what the differences are between these types of
silk, beginning with how silk is measured.

‘Momme weight’ silk is a means of measuring the quality and
weight of silk fabric used in bedding items. Cotton and cotton
blend bedding fabric is measured by thread count, but silk is
measured in momme, a Japanese unit of measure.

The higher the silk momme, the heavier the silk fabric will be.
If, for example, you are considering silk sheets for your bed
that are labels as 8 momme, you know the fabric will be very
light and delicate. This silk weight could not be expected to
hold up through rough use.

Silk weighed as 20 or 22 momme would be heavy and much more
durable, so much so that this silk weight is often used for
tailoring men’s suits. When choosing silk bedding, look for
bedding labeled 12 to 18 momme which provides a compromise
between durability and elegance and softness.

Fuji Silk is a spun silk fabric that is soft and drapes very
well. This type of silk is not shiny and is great for bedding
because it maintains the softness of silk but lacks the slippery
feel that often results in silk bedding ‘crawling’ from the bed
onto the floor during a restless night. Fuji silk sheets and
duvets are often available in 19 momme weight.

Charmeuse silk is the most recognizable type of silk This
fabric is very shiny and smooth and drapes well but can feel to
slick for some people’s liking. This silk is also referred to as
’satin silk’.

Habotai silk is lightweight and smooth but only has a very
slight shine. It has a bit less drape than heavier silks and is
usually found in 12 to 15 momme weights. These silk bedding
items are perfect for summer use or use in homes that are kept
quite warm during winter.

Jacquard silk is medium weight silk that is woven into an
intricate jacquard pattern. Combining shiny and matte finishes
due to the jacquard weave, this silk bedding can add detail and
interest to silk bedding.

Noil silk is often referred to as ‘raw silk’. This untreated
and undyed silk has a nubby texture and is neither shiny nor
smooth, which makes it very different from what you think of
when you think of silk. The feel is almost like that of cotton
linen and it can be used to add a modern, contemporary feel when
used in comforter outer shells or duvets.

Silk floss is 100% natural silk fiber which is often used to
fill silk comforters. Long mulberry silk floss strands can be
thousands of yards in length! This ensures the comforter filling
layers never bunch or shift. Much preferred to tussah silk used
in comforters of lesser quality, silk floss comforter fill
ensures a quality product.

And if all of the warmth, lightness and pure beauty of silk
weren’t enough, silk is perfect for people who are concerned
about allergens. Like its cotton cousin, silk’s natural fibers
don’t harbor dust mites or give off gas like man made fabrics
do. Can’t beat that for better sleeping health and peace of
mind.

Heart Surgery And Your Longevity
Nowadays, heart surgery is commonly performed on patients
suffering from heart disease, which is often a threat to
longevity. But does heart surgery make you live longer? Is
Oriental medicine a better approach to heart disease?

According to the most recent report from Journal of the
American Medical Association, at least 12,000 Americans die
each year from unnecessary surgery, and tens of thousands
more suffer complications as a result.

Every year in the United States, surgeons perform 1.2
million angioplasties, during which a cardiologist uses
tiny balloons and implanted wire cages known as stents to
unclog arteries. This Roto-Rooter-type approach is less
invasive and has a shorter recovery period than bypass,
which is open-heart surgery.

Nevertheless, a surgery is still a trauma, and the body
responds to it with major blood loss and swelling, and all
manner of nerve and pain signals that can plague the
patient for months, if not years.

Research has indicated that angioplasty did not appear to
prevent heart attacks or save lives among non-emergency
heart subjects. If that is the case, then why the surgery?

Dr. William Boden of the University of Buffalo School of
Medicine, Buffalo, New York, and author of the study also
added: “If you have chest pain and are stable, you can take
medicines that do the job of angioplasty.” Medicines used
in the study included aspirin, and blood pressure and
cholesterol drugs, and they were taken along with exercise
and diet changes in patients participating in the study.

Dr. Boden did have a point about not opting for surgery.
But do medicines, such as aspirin, as well as blood
pressure and cholesterol drugs, save lives and prevent
heart attacks, or are there better alternatives? Heart
health is longevity health. Conventional medicine offers no
miracle cures. Healing the heart has to be wholesome
because it is the “residence” of the body, the mind, and
the spirit. Therefore, medicines play only a minor role, if
any, in the cure of heart disease. Modern Western medicine
addresses only the symptoms, not the causes, of heart
disease. According to the Oriental way, your heart is the
“emperor” of your whole being, and the health of your
entire system depends upon the normal functioning of your
heart. According to Chinese philosophy, heaven and earth
merge to make a human being, and the place where they merge
is in the heart, which is the “center” of the human body,
hence the importance of the heart.

Disturbances in the heart affect your whole body. The
movement of blood throughout your body (circulation) is
managed by multiple organs, which in turn interact with one
another. A failure in any one part of this system can
result in pathology.

If there is a circulation issue, all the organ systems in
your body will be deprived of the nourishment supplied by
your blood, which include nutrients and oxygen. Your heart
has a dramatic effect on everything else in your body.

The force that keeps life going is “qi” (internal vital
energy), which is determined by the balance of “yin” and
“yang.” Poor diet, stress, and lack of exercise can cause
your “yin” and “yang” to become out of balance, thereby
disrupting the flow of “qi.” One symptom is “thick” blood,
which is the root cause of heart disease.

Severe stagnation in “qi” and in the blood may produce
internal heat, which goes into your blood and steams your
body, drying out your blood vessels as well as raising your
blood pressure.

In Chinese medicine, the basic cause of chest pain is
obstruction of the circulation of “qi” and blood. Chest
pain may be due to either deficiency or excess patterns of
“yin” and “yang,” resulting in imbalance and discord.
Accordingly, the Oriental medicine focuses on using
different foods not only to nourish the body but also to
clear any blockage in the flow of “qi.”

Truly, foods are directly involved in many of the risk
factors for heart disease. Paying attention to what you eat
is one of the most important preventive measures you can
take.

The foods that best protect you against heart disease
include the following: oily fish, fruits and vegetables,
fiber from whole-grain breads and cereals and unrefined
carbohydrates, nuts and seeds, and green tea, among others.

In addition to the different types of food to protect your
heart, you need to understand the importance of energy
balance. You need enough calories to maintain your energy
level, but no more than what you can burn off. This is
energy balance.

Even when you are dieting, you should not drastically cut
back your calories such that your energy needs are not met.
The number of calories you need depends primarily on age,
gender, and activity level.

Essentially, the Oriental medicine employs foods and
acupuncture to maintain smooth flow of “qi” and blood.

Ideas for a Hot Tub in Spain
There is a very considerable choice when it comes to
choosing a Hot Tub Jacuzzi Spa as sizes vary considerably
as regards how many people they can accommodate.

For example there are some that are just small enough for
two to three people. Then there are some that will seat
eight and others that can seat four to five people and
those that can seat five to six. These can be big enough
for ones family and friends or indeed suitable for just a
couple.

A typical two seater would be say 81″ long and 55″ wide
with a depth of 30″ or in metric terms 2.06M x 1.4M with a
depth of 0.75M. This Hot Tub would hold some 190 gallons of
Water (US) or say 720 Litres. This type of Hot tub would
probably have something in the range of 12 to 18 Jets with
a two speed 2HP motor with a 2HP air blower.

Moving up to say an Octagonal Shape a typical size would be
80″ by 80″ with a depth of 34″. This would have the same
pump configuration as the two seater referred to above but
would accommodate 6 people and have a larger water capacity
of some 400 US Gallons or 1,500 Litres.

One of the most popular types is a five seater with one
lounger usually say a size of 82″ by 80″ with a depth of
32″ and some times you can get a deeper version with a
depth of 40″ or again in Metric it would be some 2.08M x
2.01M with a depth of 0.79M and for the deeper version the
depth would be just over one Metre. The standard size would
hold some 400 Gallons US (1,500 Litres) and the Deeper Tub
Some 425 Gallons US (1,600 Litres).

You can also get a designer shaped spa with a stretch
lounger that will take five people and with a size of 79″
by 73″ it’s slightly smaller than the one immediately above
and you can see that in the water capacity is smaller at
300 US gallons or some 1,135 Litres.

Also as one moves up the scale in the terms of cost you get
more and more extras like a waterfall and neck / collar
jets. This kind of size of Tub would have a 2 speed 5 HP
motor and a 2 HP air blower.

In a brief article I can only highlight a few ideas or
choices so I have restricted this to just a few hot Tubs
obviously the choice is pretty wide. In another article I
will expand on some of the more exotic Hot Tubs with 98 and
a 130 Jets and an underwater perimeter lighting system
coupled with a 200 watt sound system that injects the Sound
into the water coupled with additional speakers for the
patio / terrace.

Now one of the key questions has to be how one chooses the
right Hot Tub. Well the answer in simple terms is to go out
and try one. As I have explained above the choice is very
wide Some Hot Tubs offer multi-level seating for people of
different body types. Some feature comfortable built-in
loungers. It’s important to choose the Hot Tub that matches
what suits your own idea of perfect relaxation.

Sweet treats for kids that are also healthy can be hard to come
by, healthy treats that the kids actually like even harder. This
recipe has been tried and tested by a part of the blogging
community all around the world and as far as I can tell has been
universally a hit with kids and parents alike. The muffins are
moist and keep for a few days, have a good crust and flavour and
get devoured as soon as they have cooled down enough to eat.
Mums like them because the yoghurt and oatmeal ingredients spell
Nutrition with a capital N, kids like them because they taste
good and they didn’t actually see you putting that healthy stuff
in, when you were baking them. If your kids are picky and recoil
in horror from such things as plain yoghurt and oats, present
them with the baked muffins without telling them what’s in them!

You can experiment with your own flavours. I used banana and
cinnamon for mine, as that was what I had in the house and
because my kids pick raisins out of any baking, leaving a trail
of crumbs around the house, or a heap of raisins and crumbs for
me to eat in Hoovermum mode. I’d like to try with nuts too, but
again only one child likes nuts so the same thing would happen=85I
do believe that chocolate chips would go down well though, if
only I had some in the house!

Yoghurt and Oat Muffin Recipe

1 cup unsweetened plain yoghurt
1 cup rolled oats
1 egg
=BD cup vegetable oil
=BD cup sugar
1 =BC cups self-raising flour
1 ripe banana mashed
=BD teaspoon cinnamon

Alternative flavour combinations:
instead of the banana and cinnamon try adding
1 teaspoon vanilla extract and =BD cup chocolate chips or
=BD cup mixed nuts and raisins
or make up your own variation with whatever berries and fruits
are in season.

Mix together the yoghurt and oats and leave them to soak in the
fridge for half and hour. After they have soaked, beat in the
egg, sugar and the oil, and fold in the flour with ingredients
for whichever flavour combination you have decided on.

Spoon the mixture into a greased muffin tray. You will get
either 12 large muffins or 24 small ones. If you are baking them
for lunch boxes it is a good idea to line the tins with paper
muffin cases. Bake at 200C / 400F for 15 to 20 minutes, until
the top is springy to the touch and golden brown.

Small muffins are excellent for school lunch boxes if there are
any left over. They also solve that eternal dilemma of
contributions to those school bake sales and class events when
teachers ask for healthy foods only, but your child wants to
take something delicious – if you tell the teacher what’s in the
muffins they’re sure to count them as healthy, just use raisins
and nuts rather than chocolate chips in this case!
