How To Do A Colon Cleanse.

August 5th, 2007

#################
Why are more and more people interested in how to do a colon
cleanse? My opinion on this is simple; I think that there are an
increasing number of people who are aware that to live a long
and healthy life (without lots of medical bills), there needs to
be an understanding of preventative actions a person can take to
enhance health.

Can you imagine an engine that can keep working for about 80
years without being maintained by a mechanic? For your body,
you are the mechanic and so you need to make sure that you are
aware of how the body works and know which parts to give special
attention if they are causing problems.

Unfortunately (keeping the engine analogy going) in most
industrialised nations we are feeding the “engine” with low
grade fuel, which is making it run inefficiently.

When we eat, food is passed through the stomach, after being
immersed in hydrochloric acid, then into the upper intestines
and finally on to the lower intestines (the colon) once the
majority of the nutrients have been taken out of the food.

The colon is then responsible for evacuating the waste,
absorbing excess water.

The normal transit time from the mouth to bowel movement should
be about 12 =96 18 hours. However, in most western countries the
usual transit time is estimated to be about 65 =96 100 hours.

Why is this a problem?

The main problem is that we are exposed to the toxic waste that
is left over from the foods we have eaten for far longer than we
should be.

The amounts of toxins that are in the food supply have
increased dramatically over the last twenty years, and the
average person, unless they drink distilled water and eat only
organic vegetables and meat products will be faced with a
multitude of toxins.

The longer these toxins are in the colon, the more chance there
is of them “poisoning” the body and making the colon sick. Which
will further slow down the transit time of waste.

As a defence mechanism mucus is secreted in the colon, which
can allow waste material to be glued to the sides of the colon,
further increasing the risk of toxin leak.

There are various signs of a sick colon, including diarrhea,
constipation, aches and pains in the lower back, skin problems,
poor immune system, headaches, gas, allergies, bad breath and
repeated vaginal infections.

So, what is to be done about it?

Essentially, there are two things you need from a healthy
colon, you need it to be clean and functioning correctly. Clean
means that there is no putrefied faecal matter glued to the
colon, and functioning means that the transit times are
appropriate, usually less than 24 hours.

A good step is to change diet to remove processed foods, foods
that are high in fat, and foods that are low in fiber.

Replace these foods with organic vegetables and fruit to ensure
the diet has sufficient fiber/ roughage.

There are a number of bulking agents and stimulants that can be
taken to bring back some of the health of the colon, including
psyllium or guar.

The key to understanding how to do a colon cleanse is to
understand the severity of the problems you may have. Sign up

Chinese Weight Loss Secret Revealed

August 4th, 2007

==================
Here is how to rub fat away from your belly

The conventional methods for losing weight and flattening the
abs are often tedious and they simply don’t work, they require a
lot of sacrifice and are very expensive, each day there is a new
book on how to lose those inches!

Today I am going to show you a simple way to remove fat from
your belly-it is a simple 5000 year old Chinese method that
tales just two minutes of your time!

Lie on your back to begin this exercise. Put the palm of your
hands on your navel then simply rub it as follows.

Use your right hand, then rub clockwise from the center, that
is from right to left, first in small circles, then increase the
circles until the upper and lower abs are being rubbed when you
have covered both the lower and upper abs, reverse the movement
counter clockwise, this time the circle gets smaller with each
and every counter clockwise rotation until you are back at the
navel.

Do not apply force, you want a simple gentle rub, when you get
to the navel, repeat from the start again, do this 10-12 times

Your chi-invincible energy is being passed from the hands
through the skin to your belly, so as you go in circles, you are
applying energy to the muscles of the stomach. That is what
happens when you apply your right hand on your belly and
performing the clockwise movement.

Visualize the energy from the hands going through the skin to
your belly, gently massaging and burning fat off your abdominal
area to make this exercise more effective.

This electricity from your hands- your chi- massages your
intestines, your blood vessels and your digestive and bowl
system.

Fat accumulations are disturbed from their resting place and
broken up, where it is passed into the bowl system and
eliminated.

This way your stubborn fat is burned away simply by rubbing
away!

Another benefit when you rub your abs in a clockwise position
is that you are encouraging proper bowel movement. This
relieves constipation that is usually causes water retention and
weight gain.

So if you suffer from constipation, this exercise will allow
you to have regular bowel movements which will allow you to lose
those last few stubborn pounds.

Where To Stay In Spain

August 4th, 2007

==================
While many times when you book a trip you merely have to choose
which hotel you wish to stay in, there are various Benidorm
accommodation options available. When you first consider where
you are going to stay on this visit to Spain it is important to
do your homework. In many cases you can simply get on the
internet to see the property rental and hotel options that are
being offered in the Alicante Region.

The first thing to consider is that this is a popular area, so
you need to do your research and book your reservation as soon
as you can. This is especially true if you are planning your
trip in a traditionally busy time of the year, such as the
summer. It is advised if you are going to travel in the busy
summer months that you make your reservation at least six months
before your trip.

Hotels

There are a wide variety of hotel options in Benidorm. There
are over 170 hotel properties you can pick from when planning
your stay. There are hotels to fit every lifestyle and price
range from simple and low cost properties to very lush and
luxurious, five-star hotels.

If there are certain amenities you will want in your hotel such
as a built in restaurant, pool, or proximity to attractions,
take this into account when you are looking for your place to
stay. It is important to note that the larger hotels that will
have these amenities will also be the ones that are a bit more
expensive. But the extra expense may be worth it if you have
children who are going to be bugging you to go to a pool or for
other child-friendly activities.

Apartments

If you are considering an extended vacation in Benidorm, you
may want to steer away from hotels and consider an apartment
instead. This can be especially nice if you have the family with
you. By renting an apartment you essentially can create your
home away from home for this extended vacation and have all the
comforts of home, including being able to prepare meals
together. When looking for a property to rent there are a few
options, you can search the internet, contact a Benidorm real
estate agent, or contact your real estate agent. One of your
best options is to check with an agent who is actually based in
the city. They will have more information on what rentals are
currently available and will be knowledgeable about what is
nearby.

One way to save money while booking a rental property in
Benidorm is if you can contact the property owner directly. This
will save you the cost of the commission to an agent for booking
the property. While it may take a little more searching, many
property owners advertise their property for rent in travel
magazines or on the internet.

Once again, take the busy seasons and locations into account
when booking. If you want a place to stay in the busy summer
months, or if you want a great location overlooking a beach, you
will want to book at least six months in advance.

Why Is Commercial Office Space Sometimes A No-no?

August 4th, 2007

==================
Let’s say you’re just starting out in business. You need an
office but your budget margin is so tight it leaves little room
to afford one cubicle, never mind a whole office suite with the
equipment and amenities you need such as a kitchen and
conference room.

You drive by and see a sign out front of a nice office location
which reads `Commercial Office Space’. The building looks
respectable. Maybe this is for you?

You take a moment to stop in and find The people inside are
quite friendly. The commercial office space shown to you is
clean and spacious, except that it consists mainly of bare walls
and a floor. But then again, that’s what you had expected in the
first place.

You are ready to negotiate a one year agreement when the
leasing agent lies a thick stack of documents in front of you
and announces, “This is our standard lease contract.” You begin
reading…or try to read. But it contains so much legalese your
eyes begin to glaze over. Now you understand why everyone always
says, “If you’re going to lease commercial office space, you
should consult with your lawyer before signing it.” But there is
one thing you do understand – the contract is for three years
minimum.

Most people realize it would be unwise for any new business
owner to get locked into an office space agreement for three
years. In reality, this is more geared for an established
business. Also, what if all goes according to plan, and in six
months you have already forecasted that you are going to need
expansion room? This contract doesn’t seem to address these
types of unpredictable factors.

As for your tight budget, you begin thinking about all that
bare office space. You’ll be responsible for purchasing all
kinds of furniture and office equipment. Plus, you will need to
hire a receptionist to take your calls and greet your visitors
when you’re out of the office. It is beginning to make you
nervous when you consider these additional costs.

Before you sign a long-term contract research all your options.
Some options are so incredibly flexible, expanding and
contracting as fast as you can sign your name. One such option
is executive suites, which can be dubbed the alternative to
commercial office space.

Not only does executive suites come fully furnished, they
provide a receptionist and have flexible leasing options and
offer short-term, easy to understand contracts to accomodate
your budget. You will be amazed at the choices provided by
executive suites for the new business owner. It is a more
practical, sensible approach to leasing office space and takes
into account your present and future needs from day one.

Relaxation Techniques. 7 Ways Of Reducing Stress And Improving Health And Well Being. Part 2 Of 2

August 4th, 2007

==================
Relaxation Tip 5 Exercise.

Exercise is a great way to reduce stress. The minimum
recommendation for exercise for body maintenance is at least 30
minutes for 5 days a week. Exercise also induces deep breathing
and besides the obvious effects of exercise for loosing weight
and keeping fit you also improve your body image and self
esteem. This will help you will feel more confident and able to
cope with the stress of everyday life.

Relaxation Tip 6 Time for yourself.

Ensuring you find time for yourself this is a very important
and often overlooked when you are busy at home or work. Take
that all-important time out to do just what you want which may
include finding time to do some of the relaxation techniques
just discussed.

If you are a busy parent remember to take care of your self as
well as taking care of your family. If you have kids get them to
bed early enough so you have time to relax doing what you want
to. If they are older children you can agree with them I want
the lounge to myself (or to you and your partner) after say… 9
o’clock.

Relaxation Tip 7 Have a cut off time.

Having a cut off time is such a simple relaxation technique it
is often forgotten. Make a promise to yourself “I will only work
to a certain time” and then be disciplined enough to really stop
at that agreed time and then do something you enjoy and can
relax with, taking your mind off things. You can also use this
as quality time with your partner, keeping the relationship
fresh and healthy. Spending time together relaxing and not
worrying about work, the home, the kids and the never ending
steam of bills will be very important to you both. Treat
yourselves to a warm romantic atmosphere with aromatic candles,
a nice meal and talk about things you enjoy rather than the
pressures of the day.

Relaxation Tip 8 Have somewhere to do your own thing.

Try and have an area somewhere where you can do your own thing,
a hobby, pastime or a sport. Keep it clear, tidy and ready to
use when you need it. This could be as simple as having a comfy
chair ready to read in (make sure it is not covered with washing
and ironing!). If you have an area for keeping fit in, it is not
very relaxing thinking I will go and get a few press-ups done if
you find you need to spend half an hour moving bikes and garden
tools!

It is not selfish taking time to relax; indeed it is vital that
you do so. The benefits of relaxation are overwhelming. Applying
relaxation techniques consistently will improve your health and
your well being, helping you alleviate conflict in your
relationships at work, with friends and your family, and
ultimately promoting a long and happy life.

Diversify Your Joy to Lose Weight
As a weight loss coach, one of the first questions I ask
most clients is how much of their total joy in life comes
from food and food-related activities. When the percentage
is high, I understand why they are having a hard time
losing weight. I have worked with hundreds of clients who
get too much of their happiness from food.

I recently had am overweight client who lived alone and
didn’t have much outside interaction. Of all the joy she
had in her life, 95 percent came from food. As you can
imagine, she was not too excited to reduce her food intake
in order to lose weight, as it was directly connected to
the amount of joy she would experience in her life.

Whenever this is the case, I don’t start with the food, I
start with the joy. I didn’t attempt to have the client
reduce her food intake until she added at least 50 percent
more joy from other sources into her life. In this
particular client’s case, she made a list of all the things
in her life she could start doing that could bring her more
joy. She learned how to fish, she took a jewelry- making
class, she started walking, she spent more time with her
friends, and she joined a volunteer organization. All of
these activities started to fill her with joy and happiness
and a sense of contribution. At this point, it was easier
for her to stop overeating because she could rely on
herself for her joy instead of just the food.
A good rule of thumb is if you feel like you need more than
10 percent of your total eating per day to be just for the
sake of joy, you are most likely getting too much of your
joy from food. If you feel as if you are really missing out
on something when you can’t eat 50 percent or more joy
food, that is an indication that your joy needs to be
diversified from food into other activities and practices
that can help you create happiness.

Finally, even if it isn’t food you are getting joy from,
you still don’t want to have all your joy in one basket. If
it’s all wrapped up in a man, when the man leaves, you can
be devastated. If a huge percentage of joy comes from your
kids, then when they leave, you are left feeling empty. If
you get most of your joy from your work, when you quit or
get fired or end your career, you can be left feeling
unhappy. So spread out the joy in your life. Use all the
balanced sources in life from your family, your career,
your social life, and your spiritual life so they can work
together in bringing you a steady sense of well-diversified
joy.

Learning Spanish Part Twenty: The Silent Way Method

July 24th, 2007

==================
A most bizarre philosophy of education called “Discovery
Learning,” based partly on the educational ideas of Rousseau,
Pestalozzi and Dewey, led to The Silent Way Method of Second
Language acquisition. It also enjoyed the support of
psycho-babblists (psychologists) Piaget, Bruner, and Papert.
Seymour Papert said,

“You can’t teach people everything they need to know. The best
you can do is position them where they can find what they need
to know when they need to know it.”

Though it is a nice-sounding axiom, I am reminded of the
countries of the world in which this philosophy of education
does not reign supreme. The students in these countries overtake
our kids in almost every academic subject. The word “they” in
the above quote bothers me. Who does the “they” refer to? A
bunch of kids who do not want to be in a classroom learning
anything? Kids forced to be there because Mom and Dad say so? I
know “Discovery Learning” all too well since I received my
“secondary non-education” in one of these schools.

In response to what was considered as the “demonic” rote memory
of anything having to do with education, The Silent Method of
Second Language acquisition arose. In this “affective” approach,
” The teacher tries to “facilitate” activities whereby the
students discover for themselves the conceptual “rules”
governing the language, rather than imitating or memorizing them
- Brown (1994:63).” Also, the students had to somehow “develop
their own inner criteria for correctness” (Larsen Freeman,
1986:62).”

This touchy-feely method of learning depends on the “good
intentions” of learners. It also depends on the learners wanting
to be in the educational situation in which they are, of course,
forced by the law of the land and the law of home to
participate. This approach to American education, in which I was
a high school victim, resulted in woefully equipped and
inadequately trained high school graduates (no one, of course,
was ever failed) trying to get into college (one of our English
classes was called, “Sports Illustrated”).

Reasons for Failure:

Teacher is too passive. In favor of the student engaging in his
own “Discovery Learning,” the teacher would not step in to
correct or guide the learner. Students would learn incorrect
pronunciation in favor of the teacher remaining “silent.”

Students miss out on cultural input that could be given within
the language from the teacher’s active participation.

Is Steam Cleaning For Me?

July 24th, 2007

==================
If it is time to have your homes carpet cleaned you might be
trying to decide which method is right for you. Well you have a
lot of different methods to choose from. One popular method is
steam cleaning also known as hot water extraction. Read this
article to learn whether or not this method of carpet cleaning
is right for you.

Steam cleaning is perhaps one of the most popular methods of
carpet cleaning. It has many benefits over other cleaning
methods. For example, it has the best flushing capability of any
other cleaning method. The average steam cleaner will use about
fifty gallons to clean an average sized home. This is important
to you because it means that more of the soil is moved out of
the home instead of just moved around. If you ahe pets who have
had accidents this is especially important.

Another advantage of steam cleaning is that it allows for the
use of more specialty cleaning chemicals. Since most of the
industry is geared towards steam cleaning, most of the chemicals
are designed to be used in conjunction with steam cleaning. Some
specialty cleaners do not work well without steam cleaning or
should not be used without it due to the need to be thoroughly
flushed from the carpet. This means that with steam cleaning
your carpet will get cleaner.

There are some disadvantages to steam cleaning however. For
example, it is more susceptible to user error. You need a
skilled technician to do it properly and a bad cleaner can
really do some damage. It will also take longer to dry than
other methods but not as long as you may think. Most steam
cleaning jobs are dry in two to six hours.

Hopefully this article will help you decide which method is
right for you. If you have more questions you should contact
your local cleaning service. They will be more than happy to
explain the process to you fully.

==================

Once A Year Body Detox And Cleanse To Boost Your Health

July 24th, 2007

==================
The longer you live the more chances you will accumulate toxins
in the body. It is not uncommon to accumulate toxins from the
environment you live in. A yearly cleanse is something
everybody should consider to help keep the body’s functioning
properly and healthy.

Our bodies consistently detoxify itself every day and the
primary organs that do this detox are the liver and kidneys.
The body’s own natural functions can cause toxins while trying
to detox itself and these toxins can impair the body’s ability
to function efficiently, which can lead to debilitating disease
and physical problems if left unchecked.

If you think you may have a toxic buildup in the body, there
are some ways to know if the body needs to be detoxified. Some
signs of toxic overload are fatigue, illness, constipation, gas,
skin problems, nausea, PMS, depression, and poor circulation.

There are ways to rid the body of toxins naturally such as a
cleansing or detox diet. Detoxification involves changes in
diet along with an increase in fluid consumption specifically
clean water. With a good dietary change, herbs can be used to
help the detox process along.

We will first look at the liver. The liver is extremely
important in ridding the body of toxins. The liver cleanses the
blood and helps aid in digestion of the foods we eat.
Everything we eat, breath, and absorb through the skin is
processed by the liver; over time the liver can become over
worked. When the liver becomes over worked it can not process
and detox all the toxins entering the body, so the body will
store these toxins and after years and years of storage, these
toxins will cause disease.

The liver uses enzymes to break down toxins into water and fat
soluble substances so that the kidneys and colon can eliminate
them. The liver manufactures these enzymes upon demand. The
more demand there is in the body, the more the liver is stressed
and over time, damage can occur. There is hope from herbs like
milk thistle, turmeric, licorice, and schizandra.

Milk thistle has a compound called Silymarin, shown in many
studies to protect the liver. Milk thistle contains silybin,
amines, thyramine, and histamine, known to fight toxins and help
stimulate the production and flow of bile. Studies have shown
that milk thistle can benefit severe liver disorders such as
hepatitis and cirrhosis, as well as a general liver restoration
and strengthening herb.

Turmeric is a spice used in Asian dishes but recent studies
have found it to also be liver protective. Turmeric has similar
properties to glycyrrhizin found in licorice. Turmeric is a
powerful antioxidant and studies have shown turmeric to increase
enzymes in the liver that prevents inflammation. Like milk
thistle, turmeric can increase the bile output in the liver.
Turmeric can also breakdown carcinogens and toxins so that these
harmful chemicals can be eliminated from the body without doing
the body any harm.

As mentioned above, licorice contains glycyrrhizin and
glycyrrhetinic acid which stimulates interferon production in
the body. Interferons protect the immune system. Licorice
contains liver protective properties preventing damage due to
toxic exposure. Studies have shown that glycyrrhizin can help
prevent cellular damage in the liver. Glycyrrhizin has been
used to treat hepatitis B and has been shown to improve liver
function as well as reduce the enzyme levels used to measure
liver damage.

Schizandra in some studies have shown to protect the liver from
toxic build up. This herb can also boost the immune system by
helping the liver eliminate the toxins that have been building
up in the body. Excess amounts of toxins in the body can lead
to immune system disorders. Schizandra has also shown in
studies to protect against the effects of alcohol in mice and
other studies have shown this herb to have regenerative
properties in the liver. The Chinese have used Schizandra for
infectious hepatitis and also as a liver protecting herb it can
encourage liver regeneration after injury or disease. Other
herbs that are considered beneficial for the liver are
dandelion, burdock, and barberry.

The kidneys are the second most important organ next to the
liver for cleansing the body. All the blood in your body will
pass through the kidneys many times each day. Your kidneys will
filter out toxins into urine and help maintain a healthy
electrolyte balance as well as manufacture regulatory hormones
for blood pressure. The kidneys control the rate calcium is
metabolized and aids in the production of red blood cells.
Keeping the kidneys healthy is very important; there are some
herbs available that can help stimulate kidney function such as,
parsley, yarrow, dandelion, and kelp.

For many years, herbalists have known about parley and its
properties. Parsley is a powerful diuretic often recommended for
those with kidney problems. This herb has been shown to inhibit
the re-absorption of salt into the body tissues which increases
the herbs activity as a diuretic. Parsley helps to improve and
increase urination allowing toxins to be eliminated more readily
by the kidneys. One component found in parsley seed has been
used in drugs to treat urinary and bladder infections.

Yarrow has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties.
The active ingredient that gives yarrow this ability is called
azulene. With urinary problem comes inflammation and herbs that
can relieve inflammation can improve urination and alleviate and
ease urination problems. Yarrow can also help regulate liver
function.

Dandelion found in almost every yard in America is a great
diuretic similar to parsley. Dandelion is high in potassium,
when you are on diuretics potassium is eliminated from the body
and needs to be replenished. Dandelion can be used to relieve
water retention as well as help increase urine flow without
causing an imbalance in potassium or the electrolytes in the
body. Dandelion is a wonderful herb, in human studies have
shown to increase bile flow which is beneficial to the liver,
gallstones, jaundice, and the bile ducts. Dandelion is
considered a bitter herb and its bitter properties have been
shown to improve the release of toxins from the body.

The longer we live the more toxins our body will store, kelp is
a wonderful herb found in the sea. Kelp has been shown to
protect the body from absorption of toxic chemicals. One active
component in kelp called sodium alginate which has been found to
protect the body from radiation exposure and help the body
remove heavy metals.

If you have never detoxified the body before, it is never too
late to start today. Whether you choose to change your diet or
purchase herbs for detox, cleansing the body will help fight
disease, help your organs work better, and boost over all
health. Herbs to detox the liver and kidneys can be found at
your friendly online vitamin store.
